Teysa Karlov - EDH

Commander / EDH*

homemaderum

Dubbed the 'Deathharmonicon,' the new medium Teysa calls for a build that encompasses a multitude of death triggers and a fair number of token bodies. Its not really anything Orzhov didn't already do, but Teysa provides us with a new angle on it by doubling up the death triggers and giving us a sweet anthem for those token bodies. While focusing on the tokens seems a legitimate strategy, Teysa, Orzhov Scion really 'gets there' faster and more easily; instead, we're going to focus on the death triggers. There's a fair number of reasonably sized creatures with death triggers with natural evasion, and with Teysa out, we can throw token bodies into battle while minimizing the risk of a crack back; together, we'll be able to incorporate an aggressive approach that the table may not expect. And we can even get down with some incidental lifegain!
By taking an aggressive approach to building Teysa, we have a multitude of options that we can easily shift between based on board state and card state. We can combo our way to victory in a couple of ways, including some OGs like Blood Artist , Ashnod's Altar , Nim Deathmantle , as well as newcomers like Divine Visitation and Seraph of the Scales . We can make tokens, both tall ( Crested Sunmare ) and wide ( Elenda, the Dusk Rose , Oketra's Monument ), which we use to fuel our engines and beat face. Many death-matters creatures can fill important utility spots, like Boreas Charger , Archon of Justice and Bloodtracker , so we'll also need a no/low-cost suite of sacrifice outlets to get value on demand; Krav, the Unredeemed , Bontu the Glorified , and Viscera Seer have a key role to fulfill. We also can use spells like Angelic Purge and Blood Divination will keep the value train a-runnin. Amidst the plethora of creatures that grant death triggers, the ones like Kokusho, the Evening Star , Requiem Angel , Yosei, the Morning Star , and Demon of Dark Schemes all not only pile on the synergy, but also provide an evasive beatstick!
