I love suspend as a mechanic, Jhoira's a super neat card (and character - Jhoira as a planeswalker, anyone? Wizards plz), and is my favorite color combination, so I'd really like to make this deck LEGEN-wait for it...

One benefit of this deck is the ability to make my upkeep as scary as possible for my opponents. With Paradox Haze giving me a second upkeep, I not only remove two time counters per suspended card per turn, I also get even more benefit from:

• Detritivore - later, lands
• Aeon Chronicler - cards get
• Staff of Nin - even more cards get
• Shrine of Burning Rage - future damage get
• Shrine of Loyal Legions - future Myr get
• Tamiyo's Journal - Clue get
• Thopter Spy Network - Thopter get
• Thran Turbine - get

Combos are fun

The more cards I draw, the sooner I get something big and scary. The sooner I get something big and scary, the sooner I can suspend it. The sooner I suspend the big, scary thing, the sooner I can get that big, scary thing on the field.

Granted, this the best-case scenario, but Paradox Haze + Staff of Nin + Aeon Chronicler + Dictate of Kruphix + Tamiyo's Journal + Thran Turbine = Eight draws per turn:

• Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind trigger x8 - 8 damage divided
• Sphinx's Tutelage trigger x8 - at least 16 cards milled

• Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind: instawin, unless the opponent is running a stupid OP lifegain deck.
• Sphinx's Tutelage: instawin, unless the opponent's library happens to be more than twice the size of mine.
• Day's Undoing: considering how much I can draw with this deck, pretty much necessary for multiplayer games so I don't accidentally draw myself to zero, or get forced to draw to zero by someone I don't manage to knock out with either of the above combos. Laboratory Maniac is probably worth picking up also.

Big, Scary Things

Every time counter removed is another tick of the clock, the ever-decreasing countdown to your destruction. Melodramatic? Maybe, but I enjoy the thought of my opponents seeing exactly what big scary things are coming to stomp on them.

Assuming a perfect hand, I can get Jhoira out on Turn 2, and a big, scary thing out on Turn 3:

• Turn 1: Mountain/Island/Command Tower > Sol Ring > Mind Stone
• Turn 2: Mountain/Island/Command Tower > Jhoira of the Ghitu > suspend a big, scary thing
• Turn 3: Timecrafting (or Fury Charm + Clockspinning) > big, scary thing

However, the odds of having Sol Ring, Mind Stone, Timecrafting, two differently colored lands, and a big, scary thing in my opening hand are quite small. Therefore, I need some way of defending myself while the big, scary things are on their way. Hence:
