Swarm of Cats

Modern KingofGuam

Update —March 11, 2018

Removed 2x Regal Caracals, 1x Marsh Flats, and 1x Ajani, Mentor of Heroes. Then added in 2x Leonin Arbiters and 2x Ghost Quarters. Looking forward to testing this out from this point on.

That looks pretty good now

A few things:

You shouldnt play to many creatures with more than 2 power because you cant hit them with CoCo. Regal Caracal is in addition hard to cast with 20 lands and you also dont want to tick up a vial that high so you should cut it.

Leonin Arbiter is a very strong cat, its amazing with path to exile and Ghost Quarter. In a two color tribal deck you dont need fetchlands to make your manabase work thats absolutely worth it.

There are a few sideboard choices that are subobtimal.Authority is only good against other creature decks and you board presence is pretty big so you shouldnt need it. Same is true for Druid's Deliverance. Sundering groath has nearly no value because you only have small tokens. Naturalize or Nature's Claim would defenitely better

lukas96 Great suggestions. I've looked at Leonin Arbiter in the past but never went for him. However after looking at my previous games Regal Caracal has mostly been helpful when I've played against burn decks since it would give me that last minute health bump. So I can see side-boarding the two and adding Leonin.

I like the idea of adding Ghost Quarter as well. I can definitely see taking out Marsh Flats and adding Ghost Quarter. This way I can use Marsh Flats for the Commander Deck I'm building. ha ha

So I will work on some tweaks with Leonin/lands and test them out. Appreciate the tips and support.

Sounds like a plan!!

You should of course cut all the fetchlands if you go for arbiter. Unclaimed Territory, Razorverge Thicket and a few Stirring Wildwood

I cant imagine burn giving you enough time to put Caracal into play. There is way better lifegain in your colors than it.

Scavenging Ooze is lifegain and GY hate in one and can be vialed in and as well be hit by Coaco. Blessed Alliance is also a very flexible card. You should consider those if you want something to fight burn because they are more reliable and flexible than caracal

Hello, nice deck nice kitties.

What do you think of changing a bit your mana base to play 4x Wild Nacatl over 4x Birds of Paradise to go more aggro. And why not 2x Selfless Spirit to save your creatures from early removal like Anger of the Gods ( i think Selfless Spirit is better in this build cause you re playing Collected Company. What do you think?

A friend of mine had a similar deck to this and he ran 4x Lifecrafter's Bestiary which helped him keep his hand full and anticipate what his next turn would be. Otherwise great deck.

Lovely deck! Though I would, as has been mentioned above, take out Marsh Flats.

As for the enchantment removal changes that have been suggested - I can see someone making an argument for Nature's Claim (or Natural State over Sundering Growth, but... Naturalize is just inferior. You always have either green or white mana, so the one colorless isn't a notable difference, and at worst, if you have no tokens in play, they're identical. Even with your little tokens, Sundering Growth beats Naturalize.

RE: Your maybeboard: I'd say Coat of Arms and Vanquisher's Banner are no-nos. Too much mana, and the former can some times help your opponent as much as it helps you (I say this as someone with a token that that has won more than a few times because an unwary opponent played it, only for me to respond by flooding the board with Saprolings).

Finally, a question: how much does Metallic Mimic really help you? I've played a bit with it myself on a deck before, and wasn't a huge fan. Mine were often destroyed before they had a chance to give my creatures a significant amount of counters, and with two mana in hand I often found myself wanting to cast other, better and more interesting creatures instead. I usually like Adaptive Automaton better to feel a similar role, though it does cost a whole other additional mana, which I can see as a good reason not to run it, too. I'm curious about how well the Mimic performs here.

I wanted to suggest claim and state. Mixed up the names of all those green removal spells with nature in their names sorry for that

Yaaaaassss! I love this tribal build! One suggestion I had was Radiant Destiny from RIX.

Leyline of Sanctity, Rule of Law and Stony Silence are all great sideboard options for white since they hit popular decks in the meta (Burn, Storm and affinity). I would also look at grave hate like Relic of Progenitus or Tormod's Crypt. I think a couple of Ghost Quarters and/or Field of Ruins are essential for tron matchups.

Hope this helps, Great deck!
