Meren's Minions

Commander / EDH

Antares777x

Hey guys! I'm trying to convert my Meren deck away from stax and into a more "goodstuff" build focusing more on creatures. I'm trying to make the deck more resilient and add in powerful cards to upgrade it (like Mikaeus and Triskelion).

Game Plan:Early game you want to get as many counters on Meren as quickly as possible. Three of the four one mana creatures have ways to sacrifice themselves (Viscera Seer, Caustic Caterpillar, Spore Frog) and I'm running plenty of two to three mana creatures that ramp. Satyr Wayfinder seems to be a good addition since it can fill my graveyard. Usually I am going to tutor for Mindslicer and try to get everyone to pitch their hands. Nath and Sadistic Hypnotist also work as a combo to blow out everyone's hands and generate a lot of tokens for me.

End Game:Once you've made all your opponents discard, there are multiple ways to win:-Mycoloth will eventually generate enough 1/1 creatures to win through combat. Pathbreaker Ibex is also very good at making your creatures huge to swing for lethal.-Mike and Trike. These two will end the game immediately if no one can respond to them, and they can both be tutored by Fierce Empath and reanimated by Meren, making it difficult for your opponents to stop.-Contamination lock. This usually only works against nonblack decks but can still slow the game down for your opponents and act as a sacrifice outlet. This card will generally draw a lot of hate since it doesn't win the game on the spot, so you have to be already ahead on the board for this to benefit you.-Gary/Kokusho/Blood Artist. These guys are amazing against aggressive decks and can win the game if left unchecked.

There are still some cards that I'm not sure are that good for my gameplan. I'm running Oppression and Bottomless Pit for additional disruption, but these cards may not be doing enough other than make me a target. I also think that I should run Disciple of Bolas, but chose Vulturous Aven instead since it's more flexible and has flying. Disciple forces me to sac a creature other than itself while the aven gives me the option to sac itself or even sac nothing at all. I am probably going to cut Massacre Wurm for Demon of Dark Schemes since it can kill my own creatures and generate experience. Having flying and being able to reanimate my opponent's creatures are really what make this a better replacement.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
