Tolsimir, Wolf-Slinger

Voja-Helix

Summary

Commander Selesnya /

You are a green mage - Your mission is to cast a furry of spells to destroy your opponents.

The deck is designed to stay elf & wolf tribal. Play Trostani, Selesnya's Voice as an upgraded commander.
If you're in a more competitive playgroup, Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves is not your bro.

General

Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves
Oracle Text
When Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves enters the battlefield, create Voja, Friend to Elves, a legendary 3/3 green and white Wolf creature token.
Whenever a Wolf enters the battlefield under your control, you gain 3 life and that creature fights up to one target creature you don't control.

Commander Pro et Contra

Pros

  • Solid Stats
  • Built in Removal & Lifegain
  • Really fun and Casual

  • Cons

  • Hard to win games
  • Flying creatures are a challenge to overcome
  • All the best burn spells and wolves are in
  • Pile of 20+ token cards required to play this deck
  • Dog Days

    Update: 2019-08-25
In trying to make the deck stronger, I've noticed the wolf token pack isn't large enough.
I've added "to the battlefield" tutors and ways to find Sword of Body and Mind in the maybe board.

This has me thinking - What if Voja wasn't legendary?
Each game played, I've noticed copying him would be easy and possible with cards in hand.
For this, I would like to test Mirror Gallery and possibly Helm of the Host.

    Update: 2020-11-13
I've come to the conclusion that Allosaurus Shepherd is the correct win condition.
The non-token part of this deck needs to be built like an elf ball.
Making the elves a crucial part of the deck and creating synergies is a challenge.

    Who let the wolves/elves out?

    Combo A
Aluren with Cloudstone Curio and Ferocious Pup.
    Infinite 2/2 wolf tokens.

    Combo B
Aluren with Cloudstone Curio and Dwynen's Elite.
    Infinite 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens.

    Combat Damage
Akroma's Will with Rhys the Redeemed or Second Harvest
    Large amounts of token damage.

    Chopping Block

Forest is being replaced by Dryad Arbor

From playtesting, I found wolf creatures underwhelming in EDH and it's better to focus on 2/2 tokens.
