Modern Snakes (NEW FROM ELD) (Modern MTG Deck)

A new contender for Modern Tribal deck has entered the scene! With 16 new cards from Modern Horizons and Throne of Eldraine, this list is a new take on an old tribe; Snakes.

Snakes?

Snake tribal is often thought of as the Kamigawa block Seshiro the Annointed, Shisato, Whispering Hunter , Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro , and Sosuke, Son of Seshiro , or Commander's Kaseto, Orochi Archmage . That isn't this deck.

This is a list with only one tribal benefit: Cavern of Souls , which allows for both fixing in our list, but to a more major extent, makes our very threatening cards uncounterable. Sticking 2 for ones and huge threats uncounterable all with a low curve makes this list what it is.

So, what snakes do we use? This list runs 25 snakes, but overall, we only really are running 4 types of them, the threats in Stonecoil Serpent and Hexdrinker , which are appropriately sized threats at any point in the game, the cantrip snakes in Ice-Fang Coatl and Coiling Oracle , the way we pump our threats, Lotus Cobra , and our support snakes in Prowling Serpopard , a reasonably stat'd snake that acts as a secondary Cavern of Souls and other support snake, Ohran Viper .

These are the Snakes, the main creature-base of our deck.

Tempo/Control

Our deck's snakes are supported by a large interaction-base in the form of Dismember , Ice-Fang Coatl , Mana Leak , Remand , Vapor Snag , and our numerous sideboard slots. This allows us to play a tempo game where we stick a threat or a few of them, then control our opponent for just long enough to kill them, slowing them down as we gain a really fast start, or just control them until we can spam threats on an open turn.
