This is a deck that I built years ago with just the cards I had back then. It's undergone numerous revisions since then, but it would be great to get some feedback on 1) How to improve it and 2) Reasonable changes that could be made to make it modern legal.

Early Game

The early game is a little bit weak, but Boneknitter gives a nice low cost regenerating blocker while Innocent Blood, Go for the Throat and Chainer's Edict keep their board clear early. Ideally we drop Putrid Raptor Turn 3 as a morph, getting a fast 4/4, but Severed Legion is also there for an early body and the utility from fear. Play the Buried Alive when you can, ideally targeting Noxious Ghoul and an Undead Warchief or if white/green/flying protection is needed we can grab a Grotesque Hybrid.

Middle Game

At 4 mana we can get some pretty decent bodies on the field, including Vengeful Dead, or if we have Undead Warchief, we can drop a Grotesque Hybrid. Zombify also finally comes into play here so if we pulled a good body with Buried Alive that comes onto the battlefield.

5 Mana really opens up the deck, allowing us to play Beacon of Unrest for some additional utility by grabbing opponents' creatures, or we can drop a Call to the Grave to creature deprive opponents. The biggest card here though is Living Death as it flips the graveyard and creatures in play, causing the Noxious Ghoul to trigger and hopefully give you a full board while removing all the creatures that opponents brought back. Lastly, we have Mikaeus, the Unhallowed for a big end game drop.

Misc. Card Discussion

Avatar of Woe has some nice synergy with graveyard decks and is a pretty powerful drop for (ideally) 2 mana. Demon's Horn is just some basic utility and to help pad out the early turns a bit. Temporal Extortion is a fun card that I think fits nicely into any mono black deck. Twisted Abomination is a nice card to Zombify and it can swampcycle if you draw it early. Soulless One only has one copy because while it can be nice, it's just a body and if opponents hit you with exile cards it can end up being a 1/1 for 4 mana. Unholy Grotto is for when those reanimate cards just aren't being drawn. Gempalm Polluter offers cycling (getting another body into the graveyard for reanimation) and the effect can't be stopped with damage prevention cards. Works well with Unholy Grotto too.
