Making it snow so hard all the schools and libraries shut.

THE DECK

This is not a fun deck to play against. Don't expect to play this more than once in a lifetime if you want to keep your friends.

The whole idea is to bring some much needed winter to the kitchen table - and make everyone wish they had brought some warm clothes (or at least some extra artifact removal).

THE SET PIECE

So how does this deck work? Well, during the early game you will want to keep things calm and get some mana rocks out - that's pretty damn important. An ideal opening hand will have Mana Vault or Sol Ring or, at a stretch, Coldsteel Heart. Something to ramp a bit, but not a huge amount else.

Turn three, you'll start laying down the law. If you can't play it - no one can. Trinisphere, Winter Orb, Static Orb and Sphere of Resistance will stop the game dead in its tracks if left undealt with. Riddlekeeper and Memory Erosion will punish them for trying to speed the game up a bit, and with the variety of Counterspells you have to choose from, you shouldn't have much trouble keeping the game at a standstill.

Punishing the Ungrateful

Doing all this, and they are somehow surviving still? Then punish them by punishing everyone. Smokestack, Tangle Wire, Stasis and Arcane Laboratory will affect everyone and stop them dealing with the avalanche of stuff they already have to deal with.

Sunder and Evacuation will also do pretty well to punish those who don#t appreciate the ice.

Surviving in the Snowfall

So, you've made the game a bad place for everyone to be. Well done! Now, how do you do anything?

Remember those mana rocks you spent so long playing? Well, say hello to Unwinding Clock. You'll have plenty of mana left over from all the land hate you've been running, so lay down even more! Elixir of Immortality will refresh you to a pleasant state once again, and you can finally start to think about how to win.

The two main win cons here are Rimefeather Owl and Steel Hellkite - both of which can get in for a bit of damage here and there, but with a combination of Memory Erosion, Relic of Progenitus and Riddle-keeper you can probably get their libraries down to virtually zero too.

Not enough creatures? What if I told you that all those mana rocks you had could be creatures. Think about it for a second, and then make a sweet top deck of Tezzeret the Seeker .

You're welcome.
