Maybeboard

Vampire shenanigans.

This is Mardu, but we're still basically just splashing Red/White. There are so many swamps (and duals that are swamps) that we can reliably get some insane amounts of black mana once we get the engine running.

  • Crypt Ghast The only non-vampire we've got and a low CMC for this type of effect; too good not to bring.

  • Nirkana Revenant Our vampiric swamp doubler.

  • Caged Sun Doubles any black land sources and includes a lord effect that hits every one of our creatures.

  • Cabal Coffers Not particularly something I'd want in an opening hand, but insane value even by the mid-game.

  • Sword of the Animist Probably bringing out more swamps to magnify the above effects, but can act as fixing in a pinch too.

  • Orzhov Signet and Rakdos Signet Good, cheap fixing.

Honorable Mention:

We like everything to die. A lot. Either we get enough of the right creatures that trigger on creature deaths and wipe or we wipe to keep from being overwhelmed only to win via bringing ALL the dead creatures back.

  • Black Sun's Zenith scales to need if we want to keep Vampires up but deal with a whole lot of tokens for instance.

  • Blasphemous Act Cheap, going to do some serious work if the pod has a lot of creature based decks.

  • Damnation The best Wrath in the color we'll always have to spend.

  • Living Death Boardwipe with a built in win-con if it's timed correctly.

  • Merciless Eviction The boardwipe we're actually LEAST likely to hit creatures with. Chances are this hits Enchantments or Artifacts, depending on the pod.

  • Toxic Deluge Scales like BSZ but doesn't have the higher mana requirement for when you need it big.

  • Either as a comeback after some boardwipes or a follow up to one of our own; either of these can potentially shift the game completely in our favor by sending EVERY dead creature into play under our control.

  • Living Death free boardwipe that ignores indestructible included ;)

  • Rise of the Dark Realms expensive, but mitigated by all the mana doublers/Cabal Coffers.

  • There are a lot of effects that need creatures to die to go off; having one of these out means they go off on our schedule. It can also potentially save our creatures for later if something like Merciless Eviction would wipe without sending them to the graveyard.

  • Indulgent Aristocrat Relatively expensive outlet at 2 but not a huge deal with mana doublers out. It can also potentially provide just the buff required if we're just short of lethal.

  • Viscera Seer Free outlet with a little bit of digging potential.

  • Yahenni, Undying Partisan Free outlet that lets her survive Wrath style boardwipes; potentially transforming her into a game ending threat in the process.

  • Skullclamp Effectively a one mana outlet on our Vampire tokens before a lord effect comes out and sweet, sweet double card draw.

    Updates Add

Due to the black mana engine, only new vampires that included black were ever going to make the cut, these three made it in:

Bloodcrazed Paladin: Works REALLY well with our own boardwipes. Nasty end-step flash in after someone else's.

Sanctum Seeker: Makes the tokens pay off.

Vona, Butcher of Magan: Repeat enchantment removal mostly, can serve as other removal in a pinch.
