This is based off of the first ever Magic deck that I built, and I wanted to make it as tight of a list as possible while still preserving that table top Magic feel. I also wanted to keep the deck as budget friendly as possible, so only gain lands in the mana base, no Selfless Spirits, and no Supreme Phantasms. The only spirit above $2 in the deck is Spell Queller, but I assure you that the card is too much fun to pass up.

Downgrades: If you want to shave another $15 dollars off the price tag, I would suggest swapping Spell Queller for Nebelgast Herald (caution: will make deck drastically worse) and swapping out Remorseful Cleric for Tormod's Crypt.

Upgrades: If you like the feel of this deck and want to spend like $30-$50 improving it, I would suggest swapping out all of the gain lands for the same spread of Isolated Chapels, Drowned Catacombs, and Glacial Fortresses. Beyond this, I would go -1 Midnight Haunting, -1 Azorius Charm, -2 Favorable Winds, and -3 Topplegeist, and going +4 Supreme Phantasm and +3 Selfless Spirits. If you have the money you should probably just play the tier list.
