Modern Esper Control

Modern Control WUB (Esper)

OG_JW22

Sideboard

This deck is just a solid (and a little slow) Esper Control build. I built it on a medium budget (notice the lack of Cryptic Command). It is a strong deck with many ways to control a game. Let me first go over the win conditions and planeswalkers. The only creature is Dragonlord Ojutai. He is a very big threat with solid protection and a way to filter and draw cards. My favorite planeswalker in this deck is Elspeth, Sun's Champion. She has a very relevant first ability that protects your life total and gets a board presence. Narset Transcendent is a good to draw spells and get them back for extra value. Jace, Architect of Thought is another card draw engine. Finally, Sorin, Grim Nemesis is a great walker for board control and card advantage. Now on to the meaty meat of the deck: the spells. First you have the obvious counterspells (ie. Mana Leak, Logic Knot, and Negate) Then you have the legendary board wipe Supreme Verdict. The rest of the spells help draw cards (Esper Charm and Sphinx's Revelation), or kill threats (Go for the Throat and Path to Exile). That is the basic rundown. When you play, just try to stabilize the board and drop pressure when you can. I am open to suggestions to help fix my sideboard and to help improve the deck. Thanks.
