So my gf told me around noon that we were going to play Standard Showdown at 3pm. She had gotten me a Domri planeswalker deck but her mono blue flyer deck always beat me so I knew I didn’t want to attempt that. Luckily I had a bunch of decent black pulls from some theros fatpacks and a decent selection of Thrones cards to choose and spent about $15 to get a few other cards at the store before giving it a shot. I ended up winning both of my matches 2-0 against her (only 4 players so we all made a rotation) and 2-1 against a Simic deck based around Voracious Hydra and some other counter growing cards. I had to concede the last game because of time but it would have been against a mono black deck running the Caldron Familar combo and I think I would have given it a run for its money.

Let me know what y’all think! Excited to dabble in standard again. I thought about splashing green to make use of my 3 Garruk’s and other green cards.

The deck is mostly geared around getting some low cost creatures on the board and making use of Piper of the Swarm activating Ayara, First of Locthwain for each rat made. Aphemia, the Cacophony can also get some pain going if you use enchantments like Mogis's Favor and Mire's Grasp as removal to get some targets in your graveyard. You can also use these enchantments for some extra pips when you decide to drop Gray Merchant of Asphodel.

This deck was a lot of fun. Cards were mostly based on availability. I own all of these so let me know what cards could be doubled down on.
