Creatures
Siege Rhino
This majestic beast of a card is every Abzan deck's keystone. Coming in at a whopping 4/5, making him hard to get rid of, AND swinging in like a beast, He also comes with a free Lightning Helix! Not only that, but he has trample! What more could you want from one of your creatures? He does EVERYTHING you want him to do, and more!
Fleecemane Lion
Now, you should know about this card by now. 2 mana for a 3/3? That's really good. Dumping 5 mana onto him to make him almost impossible to kill? That's even better. Yeah, a 4/4 Hexproof indestructible lion is ALWAYS scary for your opponent, since you have so many options to use him. Let him sit back and chump block EVERYTHING? Let him constantly bash at your opponent and force him to block the lion, letting more and more of his or her own creatures bite the dust? The choice is yours, and the Lion is a strong teammate in this deck.
Rakshasa Deathdealer
Now this is one scary little cat... Demon... Thing. A 2 for 2/2 isnt half bad, but what makes him good is all the possibilites you have with him. Got spare mana open? Why not make him a 4/4? Or a 6/6? Hell, why not just make him a 10/10 and still have mana open to regenerate him, should somthing try to stop him. He makes a great asset, since he has quite a few nasty combat tricks up his sleeve, and running him in this deck is a great choice to do. And i mean, just look at him. He just WANTS to run over people, doesnt he?
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
Now... What is there not to say about this guy? a 3/4 for 3, Vigilance, and constantly putting out vigilance tokens for you. He's usually hard to deal with, requiring a Stoke the Flames or instant kill-spell like Hero's Downfall! Even when blocking, its a block with 4 power. I love this card, and i have no idea why i wasnt running it until now.
Anafenza, the Foremost
Oooooh Boy. The leader of the Abzan's herself. Anafenza brings a huge problem to our opponent the second she lands on the field. a 4/4 for 3? Fucking amazing. Get a counter on things, just for attacking? Even better. This'll keep our creatures away from the simple burn spells, like Lightning Strike and Stoke the Flames, and make them even more powerful along with it. There is no good reason you'd NOT want this gal in your deck, as she just brings so much good utility and beatdown into it.
Courser of Kruphix
Now, with all the big smashy creatures we have, we might want to have somthing a little more on the defensive side. Courser of Kruphix is an excellent choice in this matter, as she helps out alot in getting our big dudes out there. at a 2/4, she can stop alot of aggresive decks early on, aswell as let us shove through our land draws we dont want, by letting us play them from the top of the deck. Hell, after a while, she'll be able to stomp on our enemies just as much as any other card we have.
Wingmate Roc
Wingmate Roc brings alot of good to the table. you'll constantly be swinging in with creatures, making you get TWO 3/4 flyers onto the field, and getting you a few points of life back every time you swing it with the main bird himself.
The Support
Dromoka's Command
Holy moly what a card. This card does EVERYTHING we want it to do! You thought Abzan Charm had choices? This card is that card's daddy! But for real, this helps you deal with the pesty jeskai tokens, banishing lights/chained to the rocks, and it can make you fight a creature they control. What is there not to love here?
Hero's Downfall
Kill ALL the things! I cant really say much more then that.
Whip of Erebos
Lifelink? Check.Getting to re-summon Siege Rhino amongst other creatures from the grave? Check.This card is amazing. Running it as a 1-off to suddenly start whipping back things from the grave, and make our opponents weep as they keep getting Lightning Helix'd from creatures they thought they got rid of!
Sorin, Solemn Visitor
Now, sorin is someone everyone should know by now. His ability to give lifelink is amazing, his vampire token can really save you in a pinch, and his ult is so good, it makes most decks cry. Running him is an absolute must.
Ajani, Mentor of Heroes
This guy is a total underdog. He can make your rhino's huge, he can search up more threats, and if you for some reason get to ult him, most people just scoop. Although too abundant if too many, running one has done me very well so far.
Elspeth, Sun's Champion
Huur-di-duur tokens.
Huur-di-duur kill all the stuff.
Huur-di-duur more tokens!
These are my exact feelings for Elspeth. She's a wincon in and of herself.
The Sideboard
The sideboard is highly customizable! Due to this, im not going to go in-depht on what to put in there. Abzan has so many good choices in our colors, that anything you feel should be in there, you can put in there! Dont let my choices stop you from yours!
