FNM 2nd Place 3-1 —Dec. 24, 2016

Game 1 was against a new player who was playing a poorly crafted U/R Spells deck, I beat him pretty easily and then spent the rest of the round giving him advice on how to improve. I won 2-0

Game 2 was against a R/G Pummeler deck, I lost this match 1-2 although the last game was super close, I had an amazing board state with 4 walkers out and all he had was an Electrostatic Pummeler. I made the token effort of trying to kill it once, and then used every resource I had digging for anything that could kill it and I whiffed despite digging like 8 cards deep.

Game 3 was against another homebrew. It was a U/B Control deck featuring both Gearhulks and a lot of kill spells and counterspells. I won the first game because he held onto a Negate to protect his creature instead of countering a Liliana and I instead sacrificed Blighted Fen for a blowout to steal the game. Game 2 I had another blowout as he ignored a Chandra right up til the turn before her ult and tried to Ruinous Path, I responded with Warping Wail for the win. I won 2-0

Game 4 was against a Jund Midrange. He had a slower start game 1 and I got to established for him to come back. Game 2 he had a much faster start and ripped a couple key cards out of my hand, I lost although it was very close... Lili was one turn off from ult-ing. Game 3 I actually drew my sideboard pieces and controlled the field with board wipes and walkers beautifully. I landed a Nahiri through the hand attack and used her to cycle my hand and get more card advantage from the walkers. I won 2-1.

This FNM I tried the Noxious Gearhulk out and while it wasn't the end all card I'd like it to be, I was much happier when I drew it compared to Combustible Gearhulk. It made me much more excited to activate Nahiri's ultimate and I didn't feel as bad when I topdecked it. I think its a good change and one I plan on keeping.

Once you go black you never go back, go blackhulk.

Noxious Gearhulk is the way to go I think. I run 2 in my Jund midrange/control deck and I always love drawing it. Tokens are a bit of a pain, but outside of that, Noxious Gearhulk is better than Combustible Gearhulk.
