Totally Unnecessary Introduction

A long time ago, my idol Chuck Norris was walking through the jungles when he was suddenly struck by a King Cobra. After three days of agony and pain, the King Cobra died. Now that I have your attention, get ready for a deck that brings a little more bite.

This deck is similar to one I made years ago: wheel chaos with the partner commanders Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix and Kraum, Ludevic's Opus. Neither of them brought the bite that Xyris, the Writhing Storm brings. This deck uses group hug and wheels to rain chaos on our opponents from sky high. You may be thinking "But you're only making 1/1 snake tokens? How can it be that great?". Well, sit down and grab your Epipen because this shit has nuts in it.

So the first thing to point out is the obvious: making everyone draw cards. The deck is filled with plenty of wheel and group hug effects to fill our opponents' hands. This isn't necessarily bad, as our opponents will have an easier time getting the cards needed to interact with bigger threats than what we are doing. Chasm Skulker and Glint-Horn Buccaneer synergize perfectly with the 6 wheel effects we are running. Burgeoning is fantastic in the deck. Our opponents will need to play lands if they want to play spells, and we will typically have a full hand containing at least a few lands. With this one enchantment, we can quickly outpace our opponents.
Even though we will be choking out our opponents, we will be doing it gently with hug effects. Kami of the Crescent Moon, Howling Mine and Rites of Flourishing help speed up the game by letting everyone dig a little deeper into their decks. Spells like Burning Inquiry and Vision Skeins are cheap ways to let everyone draw cards, with the Inquiry adding a touch of chaos to the effect. All of these draw spells have one thing in common: they will trigger Xyris, the Writhing Storm and give us snake tokens. But what will we be doing with these tokens? Well...
Impact Tremors and Purphoros, God of the Forge will gradually wear down our opponents as more and more snakes land onto the table top. With Purphoros in play, a single wheel effect will result in our opponents losing key spells in hand and taking 14 damage for just 3 mana. Goblin Bombardment lets us turn our docile snakes into hissed off, flying snakes that will hit our opponents in the face. If we decide to swing out, Beastmaster Ascension and Ogre Battledriver will help beef up our snakes into mighty pythons. And since we are handling with dangerous critters, we can't leave out Triumph of the Hordes. A little surprise is Kaseto, Orochi Archmage. Our commander just happens to be a SNAKE leviathan, meaning Kaseto can grant it unblockable with a little power boost to boot.
An artifact worth highlighting is Phyrexian Altar. This simple artifact is key to blowing out your entire deck. Imagine this scenario: spend 3 mana on a wheel effect to draw seven new cards and create 21 snakes. Those new spells mean nothing without mana to play those spells. However, with this artifact in play you basically just made theoretically 18 FREE mana. We do run the risk of potentially decking ourselves, so use it cautiously. It doesn't hurt to include Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre and Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. These cards will help us recycle our library and keep our engine running until either everyone is dead or the table is flipped.

Let me know what you think of the list and any changes you would make!
