Sideboard

Goblin tribal deck, centered around the 8 bushwhackers. This was my first venture into the modern format.

The general idea is to flood the board with goblins, then pump the team using Goblin Bushwhacker and Reckless Bushwhacker to push through significant damage on Turn 3 or 4. Bolts and grenades help finish the job.

I've been playing this deck for about a year now, and I've grown quite familiar with it's current build. However, I've been considering other options as of late, to really push the speed of the deck. The format seems to be getting more aggressive.

Any advice would be great. I'm not dead set on keeping this a pure tribal deck, so non-goblin suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Updates Add

I’ve transitioned from the mono-red landbase to red-green, with four copies of Wooded Foothills, four Copperline Gorge and two Stomping Ground. This allows me to play three Atarka's Command, which act as three more Bushwhackers + a Bolt. I feel this allows the deck to be more consistently explosive than the mono-red variant in game 1.

The sideboard has been in constant flux since the last update, but I can say Guttural Response wins games through Cryptic Command. It feels pretty great to counter cryptic, and it’s always unexpected for the control player. The one-of Cavern of Souls was added to the main board to help with this as well.

Other new additions to the sideboard include Kari Zev's Expertise, for matchups against other aggressive decks. Alpine Moon for Scapeshift and Tron, and Shared Animosity for midrange creature decks. Haven’t gotten to test these cards very much yet, but still very optimistic about how they will perform.

Currently considering Flame of Keld and Risk Factor to add a little card draw. Discard-based strategies can be brutal for the goblins, and I feel like these may offer a way to refill the hand after a barrage of thoughtsieze/inquisition turns 1 and 2. Also could be effective against sweepers in post-board matchups.

Let me know what you think!
