Jund Megamorph (Origin Update)

Standard BRG (Jund) Competitive Midrange

QuixoticMcGee

Sideboard

What is Jund Megamorph?

This is a midrange deck that intends to grind out the opponent with spot removal, card advantage, and resilient threats. Unlike some midrange decks it tends to take this deck a while to win once we've stabilized the board since our creatures are small.

We're splashing red mostly for Kolaghan's Command. With the Command we can return Den Protectors to our hand (plus shock, shatter, or discard) and either get back an important spell with the Den Protector or return Kolaghan's Command and do it again.

Card Choices

Creatures

4x Elvish Mystic: This deck desperately wants to get to three mana. Mystic is the best way to do that.

4x Satyr Wayfinders: Fuels our delve, dumps Deathmist Raptors and Den Protectors into the graveyard, good fodder for Executioner and lets us hit our land drops. This card is perfect. I will miss it post rotation.

4x Den Protector: A powerful way to recur your removal and return Deathmist Raptors. The more Den Protectors I draw the better I tend to feel about my chances. This varies between being a two drop against aggro, a three drop against decks without removal, and a five drop agaiinst control decks.

4x Deathmist Raptor: A solid beater and a great blocker, this cards makes things awkward for your opponent. They don't want it to live and they don't want to kill it.

2x Hangarback Walker: We often leave our mana open and this guy lets us do so while getting value. It also lets make more mana-efficient plays. Finally, he's a good sac target.

2x Nissa, Vastwood Seer: A great card to recur and a Planeswalker in the late game.

2x Sidisi, Undead Vizier: Powerful sac outlet that gets us our synergistic pieces. Also has a great 4/6 body that dodges most red removal.

2x Tasigur, the Golden Fang: Not much to say, he's great in the late-game. A little bit of anti-synergy with the elves and wayfinders though, so I try to exile those when possible.

1x Reclamation Sage: Is mostly here as a one-of to fetch with Sidisi, mill with Wayfinder, etc.. Gives us a maindeck way of dealing with troublesome enchantments

Spells

4x Kolaghan's Command: Returns Den Protector to our hand (which can then return this card) or other powerful creatures, kills small creatures and finishes off planeswalkers, generates card advantage, kills Whips and Perilous Vaults (which tend to get sided against us).

2x Ultimate Price: Tends to kill Dragons and Coursers.

2x Hero's Downfall: Catch-all removal that we can fetch against planeswalkers.

1x Outpost Siege: Weak to Dromoka's Command, but if you can grab it against the deck's it's good against it often runs away with the game.

Always looking for suggestions, comments, etc. I've been having pretty good success so far with a decent win rate.
