The theory is that there are a number of one off answer creatures that can be found with Prime Speaker Vannifar or Neoform , You can also get Gisela, the Broken Blade and Bruna, the Fading Light in play meld them to get Brisela, Voice of Nightmares . The side board is just a tool box of creatures for various situations.
