Maybeboard

Description

Really fun mono black value deck. Think this deck will be competitive enough to compete with the meta, but would love any and all suggestions!!!

Every card is meant to hold strong value and synergy:

Mainboard

Gatekeeper of Malakir gets rid of something and leaves a body so almost always a 2-1, especially against decks with a low threat-density, like Death's Shadow.

Geralf's Messenger is straight up value, a hard to deal with body with a huge devotion count.

Gifted Aetherborn allows us to chump a larger creature and kill it while gaining some life to even slow down aggro decks/help alleviate Phyrexian Arena life loss.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel can be a HUGE gain & drain effect with a body, the ultimate game ender in Mono Black!

Phyrexian Obliterator is the staple of any competitive mono black deck and is just SO good!

Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek are great hand disruption cards for T1 plays.

Phyrexian Arena is good card draw that is needed.

Fatal Push is one of the best removal spells in the format in my opinion.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is a great value card no matter what.

Collective Brutality is good no matter what, a removal spell, something that hurts combo, or flat out life loss/gain!

Liliana of the Veil is just so good!!!! Removal, discard, and a near game-winning ultimate if really needed,

Bojuka Bog is some mainboard hate to anything in graveyards.

Bloodstained Mire and Polluted Delta are here to thin the deck, as well as ensure that I can use the revolt trigger on Fatal Push.

Sideboard

Surgical Extraction a card that is just to good against any kind of combo deck, even considering main-boarding them!

Collective Brutality is a card that is so good I need to run the last part of the playset in the sideboard! It kills the small annoying threats if needed, takes key cards from my opponents hands, or just makes it harder for aggro decks like Burn to get through!

Fulminator Mage is great Tron hate that even counts towards devotion!!!

Damping Sphere is an extremely solid card to side in against 2 extremely common decks (Tron and Storm), so why not run this?!

Leyline of the Void is probably the best graveyard hate I can get, because it is permanent unlike cards like Nihil Spellbomb, where they can fill their yard back up after I empty it, this way they can't, as well as adding devotion for Gray Merchant of Asphodel and hurting those crazy T1 graveyard decks.

Ratchet Bomb helps against Affinity mainly, but also with 1-2 counters on it, it can hurt other decks like Humans and 8 Rack.

Sadistic Sacrament is good for combo decks like Scapeshift and Storm.

Also considering running Mutilate, Yahenni's Expertise, or Damnation for go wide strategies.
