Enchantment (2)

Just a theme deck, trying to make it competitive on a budget. I love the lore for this character and I will be posing some of it here. I think that the death trigger and token strategy of the deck is an awesome way to go wide and try and swarm the field. I might add in some more reanimator effects later.

Combos & Card Interactions

Skull clamp: draws 4 cards with Teysa on the battlefield, so any of the 1 drops or tokens, clamp them and with Teysa Karlov on the field you can draw 4 cards.

Dark Depths + Vampire Hexmage = Instant 20/20 flying indestructible life link vigilance Marit Lage

Nimdeath Mantle + Token Generating Card + Ashnod's Altar: For this teysa or anointed procession has to be on the battlefield. Also Nimdeath mantle on the field or already equipped to the token generator.

  1. Sack "Wurmcoil Engine" to ashnod's altar to make 2 colorless mana
  2. Wurmcoil's token effect doubles from teysa or anointed procession making 4 tokens in general
  3. Sack a token to ashnod to generate 2 more colorless mana, at this point you should have 4 colorless mana and 3 tokens
  4. Nimdeath's mantle checks to see if a non token creature has died, yes it has pay the 4 colorless to bring back wurmcoil engine.

Repeat steps 1 to 4 generating an infinite number of tokens you can then sack for mana.

Nether Traitor: This death trigger has a weird interaction with Teysa. While the traitor is in your graveyard, any of your creatures dying triggers his self-reanimation. You can double his trigger with Teysa, bring him back with one of the triggers, sac him in response to the other one, then bring him back with it. Even without Teysa, sacking creatures in response to his trigger allows for some shenanigans.

Nim's Death Mantle, Geralf's Messenger, Ashnod's Alter

Result: Infinite ETB. Infinite LTB. Infinite death triggers. Infinite sacrifice triggers. Infinite lifeloss.

Requires: All permanents on the battlefield.

Steps: Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Geralf's Messenger, adding CC. Nim Deathmantle and Geralf's Messenger's undying ability triggers. Resolve the Nim Deathmantle trigger, choosing not to pay for the trigger. Resolve the Geralf's Messenger trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it. Geralf's Messenger enters the battlefield, causing target opponent to lose two life. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Geralf's Messenger, adding CC. Nim Deathmantle triggers, causing you to pay 4 to return Geralf's Messenger from your graveyard to the battlefield, and attach Nim Deathmantle to it. Geralf's Messenger enters the battlefield, causing target opponent to lose two life. Repeat.

LORE

Teysa is a smart, savvy Ozhov lawmage. With a few well-chosen words and a couple of well-planned smiles, she can make practically anyone dance to her tune. In addition to her intelligence, she also has a powerful family heritage. But even someone as intelligent and ambitious as her can be used by the guilds. Unfortunately for them, she has the resources and smarts to fight back.

Teysa serves as the official Orzhov envoy to those outside the guild. As the guild Scion, she is a member of the Obzedat, the Ghost Council that controls Orzhov.

The greedy, patriarchal ghosts of the Obzedat and the bickering leaders of the various cartels tend to be poor spokespeople for the Orzhov Syndicate. The human Teysa Karlov has taken a special, unprecedented position called "Grand Envoy," serving as the official speaker and ambassador for the members of the Obzedat ghost council. Once an advocate and lawmage who was instrumental in forging the current wording of the Guildpact, Teysa is now of middle age, her youthful resourcefulness streaked with wisdom and perspective. She has grown into her ambition well; her unique position allows her not only to express the will of the Deathless, but also to mold policy for her guild. Teysa is not the official ruler of the guild—the Obzedat still holds that position—but many believe that to cross Teysa is to cross the entire Syndicate.

Teysa Karlov Quotes:

“The Selesnya are gathering armies. Do you still believe they aren’t preparing for war?” —Teysa, to Isperia

“It’s easy to see why those Gruul dirtbags follow him—the only orders he gives are ‘Crush them!’ and ‘We eat!’” —Teysa

“Piece the tragic notes together and is it not a melody?” —Teysa

“The fine print of countless contracts has ensured we are never defenseless.” —Teysa Karlov, Grand Envoy of Orzhov

“Does Teysa think me blind to her scheming? Ambition runs in our family.”

Teysa convened the meeting of the Obzedat. Kaya ended it.

“The Obzedat have revived you with purpose. Don’t squander their blessing.” —Teysa Karlov, Grand Envoy of Orzhov

“The Simic can grow anything out of a puddle of sludge. I just hope they never join forces with the Golgari.” —Teysa Karlov, Grand Envoy of Orzhov

“I’ve always said full war chests win wars, but I didn’t mean by bashing enemy skulls with them.” —Teysa

“We do not believe in hiding our wealth in the shadows. This is Orzhov, and this is how we reward greatness.” —Teysa Karlov, Grand Envoy of Orzhov

“If you think the cathedral is impressive, you should see what’s down below.” —Teysa

“I hear that Boros is losing its angels to the Gateless Movement. I’m sure this comes as no surprise to you.” —Teysa, to Lazav

“The Gruul embrace all things poisonous and living in the cracks of society.” —Teysa Karlov, Grand Envoy of Orzhov

So I will be making changes to the deck slowly to swap out the cards below with the cards next to them. Then I will update the combos of the deck, and win cons. I think the changes will increase the power of the deck by a little bit, but will keep it lower than cEDH level.

changes to make to the deck better
