Modern* Mill Zombie

Bengernaut

Sideboard

Maybeboard

Creature (2)

With the exception of some cards that offer nice protection or synergy to the deck, most of the creatures are zombies. The purpose is to mill the opponent while building up an army of zombies to overwhelm them and either mill them into the dirt, or in the event that the opponent kills my alchemist, simply beat them to death with the zombies themselves.

Cards like Diregraf Captain make opponents much more hesistant to drop board clears, while Zombie Master offers significant protection from shocks and blockers. (Most games are casual so formatting doesn't matter; he does however get removed in the event that formatting becomes an issue.) Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth provides even better synergy with Zombie Master in the event the opponent isn't running swamps. Endless Ranks of the Dead ensures that my zombies will slowly build up even without Undead Alchemist on the board, and Levitation provides nice protection from flyer heavy decks.

Grindclock and Curse of the Bloody Tome help to keep milling continuously going, while Profane Memento restores my health in the event I'm running against a rush deck. Originally I feared Profane Memento would be rendered useless with Undead Alchemist's ability. Luckily, the card enters the graveyard first, then exiled. If I'm wrong please let me know, but as it stands, this has been a wonderful combination.

Negate and Psychic Strike provide protection and creature elimination. I'm also considering putting x2 Tragic Slip in the deck for additional safety.

I've been playing Magic for about three months now and this is my first attempt at a deck, which has been evolving for the past few weeks. Advice and recommendations are welcome!

Updates Add

Changed around the deck quite heavily so that most of the milling cards have been removed and replaced with almost all zombie cards. I could remove Undead Alchemist for a pure zombie deck, but I think he adds nice synergy and the potential he has for adding tons of zombies to the battlefield in one turn certainly warrants him being a cornerstone of this deck.

If he is removed from the game, I'm still left with multiple win conditions from simply beating on them until they die, a slower milling route (Jace and other milling cards), and most importantly, Lich Lord of Unx's ability.

I've got Zombie Master in my sideboard, despite the fact that he's not Modern legal, since I play with a casual group. If I'm going to play a modern game, I'll simply move him back to the sideboard so he doesn't interfere.

Also, I'm considering Skaab Ruinator for this deck. With Call to the Kindred I could theoretically drop him without exiling anything from my graveyard. Any thoughts?
