  • please +1 Upvote if you like this deck, Thank You :)

  • I'm working for quite some time now on this deck, which is trying to maximize the value of +1/+1 counters in a competitive modern deck.

  • For that, cards like Hardened Scales and Walking Ballista are a no-brainer.

  • Apart from that, this deck tries to keep the generated counters on the board with Servant of the Scale .

  • Ideally you have a Hardened Scales with a Winding Constrictor and a Walking Ballista or a Hangarback Walker on the board until turn three.

  • Mindless Automaton is a nice card I found on my search for better carddraw. Dark Confidant is okay but the problem is, that it often gets removed before it is able to draw cards and saps on our live every time it finds something interesting. The advantage of Mindless Automaton isn't only the option for immediate carddraw, but you can discard for one mana, refill him and even use him as a potential blocker, whereas Dark Confidant is most of the time just simply a dead card on board. The next advantage of the 4 drop is, that it takes pressure from the overly filled 2 drop slot in this deck, which I often considered a problem. The upside of Dark Confidant against Mindless Automaton is, that it works more consistently and without relying on Hardened Scales or Winding Constrictor as boosts. So its a difficult choice to make between these two.

  • Virulent Swipe is an especially spicy card in this deck, because it can do sometimes hilarious things. Deathtouch Ballista is very neat, especially in a board state with big opposing creatures. You can also give an opponements chumpblocker deathtouch, when you are attacking with a big Hangarback Walker , which plays out fatal in most cases.

  • This deck has good matchups against BW- tokens, Infect, GW- Company, Delver, Grixis shadow and Abzan. The humans mathup is okay I guess. A bit more tricky is BBE Jund and Mardu Pyromancer since they have often way more removal in hand as this deck can handle. An idea against such decks is 3x Soul Stair Expedition to have some recursion of value to rebuild the boardstate midgame.

  • problematic matchups with this deck are aggro and fast combo decks, since this decks counter build up strategy is more midrange and doesn't interacts well with such kinds of decks.

  • the biggest problem of this deck is still the need of playing a couple of pieces at the right times for maximum impact, and the lack of redundancy of the cards. The hope is, that in the future more relevant cards are printed. (Like trophy or collector)

  • If you have suggestions, please feel free to share them with me.

  • I hope you like this deck and have fun :)

### Changelogs ###

switched 3x Traverse the Ulvenwald for 3x Ancient Stirrings because of the inability of consistently triggering Delirium - +1 Ancient Stirrings +1 Rishkar, Peema Renegade +2 Mindless Automaton and -2 Dark Confidant -2 Nissa, Voice of Zendikar The Problem was, that the confidant was draining my life and had no synergies on the board early game. Because of that, added the automaton for carddraw in late game and rishkar + stirrings for ramp and filtering

-3x Thoughtseize -1x Llanowar Reborn ; +3x Bloodhall Ooze +1x Blood Crypt - Did a funny Experiment with these new cards. Not sure about my cutting decision though.

  • rollback to the "best stable Version" of this decklist, which is the list you can see above.
  • Had an interesting thought about getting card advantage against removal heavy metas with Soul Stair Expedition with fetches it sounds like a solid one-drop, which can save your boardstate midgame.

tried Phyrexian Arena instead of Mindless Automaton . Wasn't as good because it drained life every round and is not really killable when you're low on life. And the Automaton is thanks to the Ancient Stirrings really reliable castable.

-2 Avatar of the Resolute , -2 Nissa, Voice of Zendikar , -2 Mindless Automaton and -1 Rishkar, Peema Renegade . + 4 Hangarback Walker , +3 Dark Confidant . changed manabase.

lowered Manacurve for Confidants and added walker again. Problem is, that the servants, Avatar and pelt collectors aren't harmonizing well in this deck. And without walker, Virulent Swipe is only half as good.

- momentary final version of this deck. -1x Avatar of the Resolute -1x Nissa, Voice of Zendikar +2x Simic Initiate - with the addition of Bobs, the amount of creatures with counters decreases, which I want to counter with the initiates. Furthermore are the iniates good for lowering the manacurve further. - because of their unideal topdeck value, I limited them to 2 copies.

--> rollback to most stable early version of this deck.
