I gave myself a challenge building this deck. I almost never play red, so I built a mono-red deck. But I couldn't let go of my control roots; why not mono-red control? I present Diaochan, Artful Beauty.

Because this is a control deck, I did not want to put in effects like mana barbs or sulfuric vortex, as a more aggressive red deck might. Instead, I went with a creature-light deck. Most mono-red decks are either hyper-aggressive, like Kiki-Jiki or Purphoros, or artifact based, like Daretti and Feldon. However, I did not want to follow either of these paths. This deck does contain a significant number of artifacts, as any single-colored deck will, mostly in the form of ramp (mana doublers) and equipment to protect Diaochan from being targeted by her own ability.

The deck is quite good against creature decks, though can struggle with voltron if the opposing creature is hexproof and indestructible. To hedge against more broken decks, there are prison elements such as Torpor Orb and Price of Glory. The deck is a bit weak to enchantments and heavy artifact removal.
