3x Collective Brutality seems a bit excessive. I personally find even 1 MB to be a liability. Maybe consider swapping at least 1 for a Dismember?

I'd also swap 1x Snow-Covered Swamp for a Treetop Village or a Hissing Quagmire. Whichever your preference.

Yea I kinda want a manland too. I like Quagmire over Treetop since it can kill a fish. I think cutting the Obliterators was right. Time to put the Timmy cards back in the binder for now.

Oblitertor is a good but it's the weakest card in the deck. (Well I'm not sold on Tireless Tracker.) People think that's a crazy statement, but to those of us who play this kind of deck it's true.

Tracker is weak to bolt, which is rough for a 3 drop. I try to use him as a 4 drop, since getting 1-2 clues before he dies at least gives some value.

what do you think of the splash of white for Lingering Souls? I feel like I'm plugging some good holes against removal and counterspells.

I mean honestly I feel like Abzan is currently the strongest build of BG/x. Much so to the point that I think that the pilots of the deck need to be less skilled to be successful. A lot of that falls on the back of Lingering Souls. However if you want to keep it BG then Bitterblossom is quite solid and more manlands will help against Counters & Control.

This list http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=18360&d=313971&f=MO is more traditional Rock than Abzan which I like, especially favoring Treetop Village over Hissing Quagmire but I prefer more Abrupt Decay MB. Looking at the lists that did better, I think more Abrupt Decay could have helped.

Yea I don't want to splash too much white because Field of Ruin wouldn't work, but the Lingering Souls is important against Snapcaster Mage Cryptic Command decks. Once they start going Snap-Cryptic after trading card for card it's pretty hard to recover. Souls throws a monkey wrench in that dynamic by eating removal and counterspells. Without them you're basically relying on hope that your Dark Confidant and Tarmogoyf don't get hit with a Fatal Push, which of course we know is a fool's endeavor since they always have it.

It's been helping a bit in the testing so far so I'm definitely sticking with it. One cool thing about Collective Brutality and Liliana of the Veil is that even if they hit my only white source with a Fulminator Mage or Blood Moon I can still toss a souls to them and then flash it back with black mana. I think a few copies of Lingering Souls and a couple Stony Silence on the sideboard is about as far as I can take it with a single Godless Shrine though.

Being 3 color, I'd probably go down to 2 Field of Ruin and 1 Gavony Township. You could add a Temple Garden or Stirring Wildwood or 2nd Godless Shrine.

Considering how much Control seems to be a concern, I'd also add 1-2 Choke to the SB. I don't think you need Engineered Explosives if you're running 2x Maelstrom Pulse.

Tireless Tracker was always underwhelming in my JUND Midrange (100% Competitve) deck. I'd cut it for a 4th Bob

Your color pie is very aesthetically pleasing.

I was actually just looking at it earlier and thought "crap, now I can't change any cards".

I would cut 1 Thoughtseize MB for a 4th Dark Confidant.

Doesn't hurt the color pie either :D

First off, I really like this list. It is not everyday that I find something that I wouldn't edit extensively! One thing that I find curious is your decision to go without Abrupt Decay in the 75. Have you considered cutting a Fatal Push or Maelstrom Pulse for a copy in the mainboard? If not, what do you feel your options do for you over it? Also I've seen many builds run a split of Kitchen Finks and Obstinate Baloth. Could you shed some light as to why that is? I personally would run 2 Kitchen Finks and more resilient, but I know I have to be missing something. Good luck with the build!

A lot of people ask me about the Abrupt Decay, but I feel like I'm right not including it here. As far as creature removal goes I've got Lightning Bolt and Fatal Push at 1 mana. So what does Decay do that Bolt and Push don't? It can't be countered and it can kill artifacts and enchantments. So I figure the "can't be countered" clause is less relevant in Modern than Legacy and Decay is actually a better Legacy card than a Modern card because of the prevalence of Brainstorm and Force of Will. If I need to kill artifacts I still have Kolaghan's Command. I probably could find room, but I'm already skimping a little on the creatures and man lands to make room for Liliana of the Veil. The tipping point for me in the decision was Bloodbraid Elf. As I said in the description, I favor Lightning Bolt over Fatal Push because flipping a push to Cascade on an empty board is bad value. Similarly, Collective Brutality is far more flexible than Abrupt Decay and will always have at least 1 relevant mode when Cascaded into.

So that's my long-winded response to why I don't have Abrupt Decay. As for the Kitchen Finks Obstinate Baloth numbers, those are a little more malleable but I want a Baloth for random decks like Burning Inquiry or Liliana of the Veil mirrors. Kitchen Finks is a Cascade hit and is good against other Fatal Push decks though.

and then after all that I did add an Abrupt Decay just to test its viability.
