It's not a green EDH without Worldspine Wurm ;D

Looks cool. I've been looking for strong green cards for my EDH deck and here I found couple of good ideas, so thanks for that! +1

Thanks for the suggestion, The_Mike, it's one to consider. Not too much of a problem getting it out early in a rampy deck, plus I have ways to cheat it out.

I had Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger in the deck but took it out. My playgroup didn't much like me tutoring for it. Might have the same problem with the Wurm.

Our playgroup has combo control meta, so nobody even bats an eye for cards like Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger or Worldspine Wurm. However if somebody there plays a green creature it would be something along these lines since Vorinclex has the harm done the moment you cast a removal for it, and worldspine has the 5/5's left after an AoE removal, tho it tends to get exiled most of the time, or just cant do a thing when there's cards like Teferi's Moat or just big body tutors, Rune-Scarred Demon for example, blocking the 5/5's.

Well, the point being I wouldn't complain about turn 3 - 5 worldspine or vorinclex. After all you have 3 other players to deal with these threats. There isn't even that many really valuable EDH mono green creatures, so I think you can justify these two with ease to your friends.

Since I'm here writing you this, might as well throw in some more card suggestions. Lifeblood Hydra just hits the spot since green doesn't draw so much by itself. A new SOI card that I've found simply amazing in EDH, Ulvenwald Hydra is also strong, even in mt Damia combo deck. You can search really value lands with it, like your Maze of Ith.

Yeah thedonuttothatguy, don't get too far into the weeds about how this deck came to be what it is. It has gone through some major, and a good deal of minor revisions, even an early change of the Commander. The deck has always been mono-green and that's about the only thing that hasn't changed.

You don't need, and probably don't want to see how sausage is made to enjoy your breakfast.

Hey The_Mike, I've ordered up a Ulvenwald Hydra and squeezed it into the deck, per your suggestion. Thanks for your help.

Still not convinced on the other two, but I am considering adding Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger back into the deck. I do like that card.

Vernal bloom?

Thanks for the suggestion, forevergreen.

Actually I did have Vernal Bloom in an early incarnation of this deck, even before Omnath was the Commander, but I took it out pretty quickly because I really don't like giving other green players free ramp.

Having said that, Tempt with Discovery gives your opponents ramp too, but the advantage it can give you can be enormous. I've found out through playing, that people will invariably take you up on your offer. It's the damnedest thing, but they'll do it every time.

Thanks for the suggestions, lucal13.

I've agonized over putting Primeval Bounty in this deck before, but for some unexplainable reason it's never made it in, and currently sits in my binder. Probably should be here though. What to take out...hmm.

I'm really excited over your Dragon Throne of Tarkir suggestion though. I don't know how I missed that card in all the Khans packs I opened. Usually if there is a 30 cent rare to be had in a pack, I'll pull it. So yeah, I will include that one in my next card order. Thanks for that.

I am really fond of Vigor in green decks like this.

Thanks for the suggestion, Gaous.

Vigor was on my radar at one time, but I didn't have one, and for some reason getting one got put on the back burner. It's what happens when you have eleven EDH decks and all of them crave attention.

I do have one on the way now, and hopefully by the time it gets here, I'll be able to find a slot for it, so thanks.

with all the mana you generate in omnath decks, I would suggest Planar Portal or Ring of Three Wishes for awesome tutoring power.

besides that great deck!

Thanks for the suggestions, El-Jefe.

I already have a few tutoring cards in this deck, with Fierce Empath, Wild Pair, Chord of Calling, Green Sun's Zenith, and the infamous Tooth and Nail. I'm not sure I need any more tutors at all, or if one of the two you suggested would be better (for the cost) than one I already have. I kind of like the Ring of Three Wishes suggestion though. It's one to consider.

its just a thought. all those things tutor for a creature. being able to search for anything is pretty sweet.

RamaLama says... #19

That is true, El-Jefe. Being able to search up a Maze of Ith or a Song of the Dryads could really come in handy. I think you've convinced me, thanks for that. Now by the time I order one and it gets here, maybe I'll be able to find a slot for it.

+1. Nice build and nice name :) ! Zendikar Resurgent would be great here as a mana doubler and card draw. Also, you have few enough sorceries/instants where Primal Surge would work. Mind giving my deck a look?

Thanks hosshughes, and thanks for the suggestions.

Primal Surge scares me a little. I have enough instants and sorcerys to make it a bit of a gamble, and at 10 mana, it's a bit daunting.

I like Zendikar Resurgent and I've looked at it before, but just can't find a slot for it. It's worse than Mana Reflection or Extraplanar Lens, so I can't replace one of those. It's gotten to the point where something has to be a better version of one of the cards already in the deck for me to include it. There are so many good cards I would love to be able to include in here.

You have a cool deck. It looks like it would be fun to play. I like the fact that even though there are some cards that are the same, it's really a very different style of deck. Good job.

My only comment is that you could use more mana-sinks (for example, x-costed instants, Helix Pinnacle, or Vedalken Orrery) so that you don't lose everything you've saved up if Omnath gets nuked.

Also, no Lightning Greaves? :)

Thanks for the suggestions, Daedalus19876. It's hard to argue with any of those cards in this deck.

My problem is, what to take out? I went with Whispersilk Cloak and Canopy Cover as protection for Omnath because of the added ability of both to get damage through. Canopy Cover has always had the weakness of only being a one time use card though, so Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots have always been just on the verge of replacing it.

I bought a Helix Pinnacle for this deck, but never put it in for some reason, probably for the same reason that a lot of good cards are not in this deck. When it comes to taking anything out, it's gut wrenching.

I think I may add Helix Pinnacle though, in place of Willow Satyr, a card that hardly ever makes it past summoning sickness. It gets everyone's attention immediately.

That leaves Vedalken Orrery. Again, what to take out for it? It just ends up being another good card that I can't find room for. I do have Winding Canyons in the deck though, which does the same thing while tapping for colorless when not needed.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, and again, I can't argue with any of those choices.

What land do you search for w/ the tempt card?

August 1, 2016 9:31 p.m.

RamaLama says... #25

Do you mean, which four cards do I search for? /;-)

That's the thing with Tempt with Discovery, NewHorizons. Most people know that they shouldn't take you up on your offer, but they'll do it anyway. It's the damndest thing.

But...if no one else at the table takes me up on the offer, I'll go after whatever I need at the time, be that Maze of Ith which is never bad, Yavimaya Hollow if it looks like I'm going to have to be regenerating stuff, Arcane Lighthouse if I need to turn someone's shrouded Commander into a Forest with Song of the Dryads or maybe Rogue's Passage if Omnath is huge but I can't get damage through the blockers.

Yeah, most of the non-basics are good targets, depending on the situation.
