Description

The idea was to take the 3 sets I felt were the most flavorful and representative of Magic in the Modern card frame and create a singleton cube with every card printed within those sets. On top of that, I decided that I wanted to include the 6 flipwalkers available to us and bias towards more legendary creatures. Overall one expert expansion with two core sets seemed logical because it covers all our bases with just enough complexity. We lack the traditionally higher power level that most cubes seem to bring, but I felt that flavor was more important (I am admittedly a big Vorthos and that will always be my major love for Magic).

The original pack distribution I was hoping for was 1M/2R/4U/7C/1Land. Reasoning being that there are 36 nonbasic lands among the sets combined and color fixing would be a higher priority. I didn't want to add any lands outside the three sets as the cube is already pretty large and I like the idea that only these 3 sets are included. A secondary method I have also considered is having a 4 pack draft with a 4th pack containing lands. 2R/4C&U/9Basic Lands. This has one benefit for color fixing, but creates a few problems along the way. One, we make the draft longer. Two, this opens up the chance for ugly drafting scenarios where you take lands you don't need or don't get the lands you do need. In the end I'm using the default fields in the cube generator, but I figured the insight into my thought process would inform anyone who checks this out.
