Description

I've been managing this cube for over 10 years, and it's the original reason my game group got together (just drafting it every week, so this cube has seen a lot more play than most cubes). It's legacy legal but I'm going for more of a modern (maybe even a little less) power level. Rather than a collection of the best cards in history, I try to load the cube up with fun and interesting archetypes, and follow all my own philosophies on good gameplay to make this a great format. I take everything into account:

-I'm paying attention to how much of a basic keyword like first strike or flying is popping up, and I try to not have many cards that bog down the board and make combat clunky and unfun

-I'm extremely intentional about protection, hexproof, indestructible, etc. so that for the most part it's very interactive and threats are able to be dealt with

-I like control, but I want it to be at least a little more than draw-go. My choices in counterspells and board wipes, as well as the amount of planeswalkers in the cube are all deliberate. I want control decks to be a little more like when I first started (somewhere around Rise of Eldrazi and Scars of Mirrodin but I wasn't buying anything yet, I'm not an OG being uppity about the way it used to be at the start) where they had to have maybe a heavy beater like grave titan or something to finish and not just emblem or extra turn the opponent out

-With my cube getting played plenty, I get to watch it like a hawk. If I see something over/under performing I'm on it. I'm trying out some powerful cards in the cube right now for more exciting strategies, but the health of the format comes first if I have to end up taking anything out. If it looks too powerful on first glance, I probably took into account the context of the card (in a singleton format, the cards it normally has around it to make it broken, etc.) and think it will be fine here
