MTG Combo: Isochron Scepter + Silence

Use isochron scepter and silence to cast silence at your opponent's upkeep each turn so they can't play their spells. against something that is instant heavy, it could also be used on your turn so that your opponents can't cast spells ever.

Postt ofc! No worries about not keeping up with my decks, I'm sitting comfortably at 300ish rn so that's no easy task.

Now, I think I have a few comments:

Swords to Plowshares seems like a strict upgrade to On Thin Ice , I don't see a reason to not swap them but I'd love to hear your reasoning.

Archon of Emeria and Eidolon of Rhetoric are great additions to stop storm-ey decks, not entirely sure what you'd cut to add them.

Isochron Scepter + Silence is no fun to play against, but that's what we want, right?

T1: Plains, exile Simian Spirit Guide, Isochron Scepter + Silence

T2: Plains, Grand Abolisher, hopefully have another SSG in hand to start the lock down on their upkeep

Or bump those up a turn, and have:

T1: Swamp, Thoughtseize/Inquisition of Kozilek to clear the way

...no? Time Stop is basically an instant version of Time Walk, or, more specifically, Time Warp. You can cast it in response to an opponent casting a spell, tapping out for an alpha strike or in response to them starting to combo off. Silence just prevents one person from casting spells for one turn. Sure, there is the noteworthy Isochron Scepter + Silence combo, but that can be interrupted because the ability can be responded.

They have different roles; Time Stop is the end-all counterturn, while Silence is used to either lock an opponent down or ensure a combo. They aren't even comparable.

I've been trying to build an angel deck in modern for a while, and the only way I could do it by slowing down my opponents as much as possible with things like Ghostly Prison, or Isochron Scepter + Silence , and just a few creatures. Here's my angel deck if you want to take a look: Angelic Prison

Pheardemons, I like the idea of Isochron Scepter + Silence , I just don't know what I'd take out to run it; I feel like the deck is mostly at the right balance as is.

frostdiggity, she would be strong, but I was actually considering more along the vein of Sorin, Solemn Visitor or Elspeth, Knight-Errant, largely because of the comparatively lower cost. That way I can get them out faster and I don't end up exploding myself when I draw into them with a Dark Confidant.

Well, another thing I see lacking in this deck is removal/counter. I feel like any deck should always have some form of control because there is always that one card that wrecks your day. There could be AEther Snap. Or there could be some ridiculous combo that you have to kill (Aegis Angel + Palisade Giant , Isochron Scepter + Silence , etc.) So personally you just need to add some sort of counterspell to your deck, like Mana Leak, Disdainful Stroke, Dissolve, or something. And for removal, I strongly suggest either Curse of the Swine or Mutant's Prey. Both would preform extremely well in your deck, and both are very cheap, as are all of the other cards I've suggested. Oh, and speaking of good cards that are very cheap, you should splash black for Corpsejack Menace or just run Thrummingbird. They both would fit perfectly in your deck. Hope this helped! :)

Ryotenchi yup', BoCaliv already asked for my help thought (well, you couldn't know it after all x') )

First of all, currently the meta is playing at sorcery speed, so I do not think the Abolisher could be of any help (especially since twin's ban). Also, if your opponent can't play spells in responses to yours, you've got to be able to do so: AEther Vial is a must... But unbudget as f*ck. x)

Playing the Isochron Scepter + Silence isn't of any good use here and looks pretty anti-synergic.

I would trade Remand for Mana Leak, and play some other hard counters like Essence Scatter/Remove Soul, Spell Pierce or Spell Snare too. But the leak is more important. Mana Tithe maybe, I've never used it but well, a counterspell is a counterspell. x)

Also, I would remove the Revelation and the needle from the mainboard, and going all-out on the land destruction by playing 4x Ghost Quarter 4x Leonin Arbiter and 2x Aven Mindcensor.

Since you've got quite an amount of noncreature spells, 2x Thalia seems to be the right number. Another 2 Meddling Mage can be super nice if you've got enough knowledge of the whole meta.

Cosi's Trickster and Kytheon, Hero of Akros  Flip instead of Student of Warfare maybe, 3 Trickster and 2 Kytheon may help you a lot in the current meta.

If you decide to play AEther Vial, I would play Imposing Sovereign instead of Blind Obedience.

Fianlly, get some Seachrome Coast, Mystic Gate and Hallowed Fountain to fix all this blue stuff. :p

That's pretty much everything for today, I may come back later with more suggestions (especially about the SB), maybe the other specialist of the deck (Ryo, who plays DnT and HB) will be back before I do. :p

I'm not sure about World at War here, because you have a high chance of exiling it with Narset's ability, and it does not rebound unless it is cast from the hand. Maybe consider ultra-lockdown in the form of Isochron Scepter + Silence , so your opponents can't have a response to your game. Also, Call the Gatewatch?
