Writ of Passage Discussion

Roxas255, oh, this one is strictly for casual fun. Like, the kind of deck one would play while drinking beers with friends in a dining room. As long as the game doesn't end before turn four, it is likely that River's Rebuke will be drawn and would be able to be cast with the added help of Mana Drain . Without Mana Drain , the card is useless for sometime.

The Fallen Shinobi is in place for a bit more control. Essentially, with Writ of Passage , Cryptic Command or a Cavalier of Gales that is flung into existence, there is likely a time in which a creature is not blocked. If that is the case, the Shinobi ends up in the game with haste. He adds higher power/toughness than most of the creatures in the deck. His active ability is just so awesome, he seemed right for this deck. Thanks for the input and send all your criticisms/feedback my way!

I made Tiger Shadow Jutsu with the same boss. My first change was to put in something so i didn't have to discard cards like Library of Leng (I see you have two other cards that do the same thing already).

Once I had played a few times I saw my self getting blocked after the Ninja's were on the board. Aqueous Form, Flitterstep Eidolon, Writ of Passage etc really help.

The creatures that you pop ninjas from can be more deadly than the ninjas. Hostage Taker, Identity Thief etc. They can remove blockers instead of just not getting blocked. I love playing cards from Hostage Taker then putting him back in my hand to play again.

If your opponents are board wiping you can use Reckless Imp with Dash.

Writ of Passage, Flitterstep Eidolon and Aqueous Form. The writ can be cast forecast every turn if you don't want to cast it. The eidolon can be used for ninjitsu or cast as an enchantment for an existing ninja. The scry from aqueous form is a nice bonus.

Hi! A bit worried about blockers chumping/killing your peeps. I looked up trample/unblockable enchantments/instants/sorceries, and these are some ideas: /// For trample + pump, Predator's Strike looks nice for this deck, as does Larger Than Life /// Artful Dodge, Distortion Strike, and Writ of Passage give unblockable and recur. Writ of passage is especially nice as you can pump your peeps after you make them unblockable /// Vitality Charm is a strictly better unnatural predation, as far as I can tell. /// Talons of Wildwood is like a crappy rancor, but for a price you can recur it

Sakashima the Impostor is $20. You may WANT it but you don't NEED it. Skeletal Changeling is a ninja and chump blocker with regenerate. I like that one.

There are several cheap enchantments to make a ninja unblockable after you get the first ninjitsu onto the board. Aqueous Form, Writ of Passage and Aether Tunnel are the cheapest. Flitterstep Eidolon can attack, ninjitsu then recast as bestow. Lots of mana but really flexible.

If you are married to the faerie theme try Knacksaw Clique or Puppeteer Clique for ETB, fly in, ninjitsu, recast for ETB all over. Bitterblossom provides chump blockers and fliers to ninjitsu off of. (Bitterblossom is expensive as heck though).

The biggest change i had to make to my deck after the first draft was Reliquary Tower, Thought Vessel, Library of Leng and anything to let me hold onto cards instead of discarding down to 7.

Here are some cards I would suggest considering:

Metallurgic Summonings, Dauthi Embrace, Ethereal Usher, Distortion Strike, (this one is spendy) Mu Yanling, Rogue's Passage, Aqueous Form, Cloak of Mists, Writ of Passage, Paradox Engine

Also, the threat of recurring really powerful sacrifice artifacts isn't present here. You need to use this to completely lock down the game if possible. I don't see any big target that you would want to recur so bad that you're willing to set up your commander for it. Try some things like Nevinyrral's Disk, or things like Myr Battlesphere, Wurmcoil Engine that give you value with a sac outlet or if they get removed. I think if you look you can find more potent targets.

Also, Helm of the Host can copy your commander permanently (or copy a copy) and avoids legendary rule. This will allow you to use the effect more than once per turn. Watch out that you have to pay full cost for the artifact though.

You should add at least 3 more lands.

These are deadbeat cards that I think you should remove from your list (and you know I love you so don't take this personally): - Ensoul Artifact, 5/5 isn't a good enough incentive for the threat of removal and a 2-for-1 against you.

  • Beacon of Unrest, you don't have enough self-mill to support this card, nor do you have enough expensive creatures/artifacts to make the 5 cost a value.

  • Counterspell, almost useless in Commander. Straight counters just cause you to make hasty bad decisions without upside. The other counters you have on the list are much better.

  • Vraska's Contempt, too expensive for commander.

  • Walk the plank, it's a sorcery, and you have plenty of disruption on the list.

  • Windfall, I can see that you're trying to maybe stack your graveyard here? I still don't think this card is worth it.

  • Primal Amulet, has a powerful back side but you don't actually have very many of these spells on the list, and I think you should remove about half of the ones you have. Might end up just sitting there.

  • Animation Module, Decoction Module, Fabrication Module... you know this is jank. If you had any way that was on-theme to use energy, it might be worth it. Maybe. You really need all 3 bonuses to make it worth it. Also, if you are planning on putting this together with tutors, in our play group you will be eaten by dragons before you get all 3.
