Worldheart Phoenix

Creature — Phoenix

Flying

You may cast Worldheart Phoenix from your graveyard by paying rather than paying its mana cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it.

I mean, you could go Rule Zero and make Worldheart Phoenix your commander. Then you have access to WUBRG.

Assuming you don't want to do that, Darigaaz Reincarnated might be a good option. Why Darigaaz is a dragon, the ability feels very phoenix-y and so is on theme. Plus you then get access to reanimation and dies triggers in black, as well as ramp effects in green.

I making a tribal Phoenix deck and i don't know what color/s i should nor the commander. While ik the majority will say mono-red since that what all but one phoenix is while another small group will say go 5 color so i can use Worldheart Phoenix, i'm going to no say to five color just for that one card. As for mono-red it's on the table and i'm thinking if go that route it's either Torbran, Thane of Red Fell or Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip. However Rakdos seems pretty enticing for it outright better spot removal and board wipes, but also access to many great recursion cards, ik phoenixes do come back it's there thing but they rarely if ever come back to the battlefield instead going to your hand and they're expensive to cast because they can revive they more expensive mana wise than other creature of simikar power but a ridiculous amount. Most of the recursion is conditional or having you go through hoops to bring them back so extra mana is kinda unwarranted at least the amount of extra mana they tack on, or if it is reasonably costed the mana to bring it back or the hoops you have to jump that much more harder to do, but by adding black i can send them back to the battlefield with any hoops, though many will be exiled by these effects if they die again, the commander would most likely be Chainer, Nightmare Adept. Or should i go Jeskai as blue and white gives great flying support, haven't really thought a commander if this route yet.

EDIT: After talking with people i figured out that Boros, Jeskai or Mardu is the way to go because that gives access to Zirda, the Dawnwaker and she helps immensely with bring back my phoenixes as her second ability hit even creatures in the graveyard. Now I got to figure out what route im going to take if Boros Zirda is the commander done and done, but still having problems with thinking of a jeskai commander, as for mardu there is only only one I can think and that's Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, though at best she hits only 9 phoenixes out the 29 and i only choose 5 out those 9 to be in my deck She still does return some of creatures. Idk yet but red/white will be the new base with red still being the main color obviously

Your guy's thoughts?

Here a link to the start of my deck haven't finished till i figure out my commander/color scheme yet while mono red atm that can change Reborn from the Ashes

I think a life-oriented phoenix is the best option, Garza's Assassin is the most similar, but I think red can flavorfully spend life like that, also if a Phoenix costs life to come back, I think it makes sense that it has other life-related abilities:

Bloodflame Phoenix

Creature - Phoenix

Flying, Lifelink

, Pay half your life, rounded up: Return Bloodflame Phoenix from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate this ability only during your upkeep.

3/3

I'd like to see another Phoenix, but neither a phoenix lord or a repeated method of return.

enpc on 5-color Pauper EDH deck help. …

In the past my wife and I have built both Paragon of the Amesha (enchantment voltron) and Dragonsoul Knight (infect voltron) as pauper EDH lists.

The benefit that both of them have compared to Worldheart Phoenix is that you can just dump a bunch of ramp into the list and you have a built in mana sink win condition in your commander.

Any I'm pretty sure that my wife's Dragonsoul Knight list was played against a bunch of casual EDH lists and stomped on them (basically the same situation you're in).

As for good cards - I got a lot of value out of kicker cards. They do something by themselves but you can also get more value late game. Citanul Woodreaders and Dismantling Blow are both decent sources of card draw. You also have Blink of an Eye and Into the Roil for pseudo removal/draw. Agonizing Demise is decent creature removal.

Depending on your color/s these are what I would go with personally. My favorite choice is marchesa.

R- Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion

Rg- Grand Warlord Radha

Ur- Jori En, Ruin Diver

Br- Chainer, Nightmare Adept

Wr- don't

3 color- Marchesa, the Black Rose

4 color- Saskia the Unyielding

5 color- Morophon, the Boundless

Interestingly morophon allows you to play another phoenix. Worldheart Phoenix

Suns_Champion Worldheart Phoenix stands up and raises its wing.

There are several tribes I'd like to see expanded, Skeletons foremost among them. Phoenixes do have some competition with Dragons as red's flying representatives, but they've gotten a lot of good exposure. It wouldn't surprise me to see a Legendary Phoenix soon, but it would probably be in a core set or supplementary/summer casual set.

I suggest Hadana's Climb  Flip and Worldheart Phoenix. The flip land is just an amazing value and the phoenix is five colors as long as you are casting it from your yard, so it adds five counters to your commander and it's pretty janky :)

Contrast to the wording on Worldheart Phoenix which does say cast, despite having a very different cast cost (and effect) from the graveyard.
