Bring the bat to the beating

I really like your deck cascadien. I love the inclusion of Woodripper and Vorel. Looking at your maybe-board, Avatar of the Resolute , Vulturous Zombie and Grim Affliction are cards I'd maybe include on your mainboard.

Cheers! For my deck, I'm aiming to be a group hug/slug deck with Xantcha. Trying to upgrade it while staying under the 120$ line.

Some other options for artifact/enchantment hate: Bane of Progress (mass destruction on a stick, plus counters), Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury (Planeswalker with artifact/enchantment hate), Nullmage Advocate (play politics while removing troublesome cards), Woodripper (theoretically infinite destruction), and Calming Verse (keep your own enchantments.)

For ETB destroy effects:

Bone Shredder

Shriekmaw

Wei Assassins

Nekrataal

Serpent Assassin

Woodripper seems like it would be really good for you as well.

Hello! Venser-Lives from tumblr here. You said you're still kinda new to all of this, so I'll give you some pointers from what I've seen in the playgroups I've played in. One of the most important things I've seen in EDH is ramp. Typically, a deck that expects to keep up with the multiple meta's I've seen needs around 10 or so ramp sources of some shape or size. You're a little low on mana sources, so you might find yourself falling short on what you need. Also on that note, with a grave-style deck like Meren, you want to be sacrificing creatures left and right, so I'd suggest seeking cards that will sacrifice themselves for lands (aka: Burnished Hart, Diligent Farmhand ect.) I'd also remove any mana rocks from the deck entirely unless they have a specific reason for being there other than being in your colors (Example, Sol Ring is one of the fastest mana producers in the game and is worth running for that reason). Lands tend to be more reliable in general, perhaps spells like Harrow or Yavimaya Granger would be good in place of Golgari Signet, and would trigger other effects in the deck.

I'd also consider continuing with the idea that sacrifice is better than ETB when it comes to creatures. Consider Sylvok Replica over Acidic Slime. I know it doesn't have deathtouch, but you're running black, you have plenty of other ways to kill things. If there's an effect you like on any ETB trigger, consider searching for a sacrifice trigger that does something similar.

Also look for useful things with Vanishing or Fading since they sac themselves. Good choices include Woodripper or Deadwood Treefolk. Also consider adding Dictate of Erebos and Grave Pact if you can get them.

I'd also run things that work like Meren does. Sheoldred, Whispering One and Hell's Caretaker are good options to add.

On a smaller note, I'd also add Deathreap Ritual, Harvester of Souls, and/or Grim Haruspex since you seem to be running low on reliable card draw.

Cards I'd suggest removing:

Cloudthresher: Its a nice big creature if you can keep it out, but the 2 damage isn't really significant, especially when limited to only creatures with flying. I would suggest running Silklash Spider if you're really concerned with fliers. Otherwise, if you just need a creature to get into the graveyard quickly, you can use Yavimaya Granger in that spot.

Viridian Corrupter: I'd only take this out because I know a lot of people don't like infect and will target you just for this card. On top of that, you don't run many other infect creatures, so it won't be very effective at killing anyone. If you needed something to blow up artifacts and enchantments, try running Woodripper or Sylvok Replica.

Grisly Salvage: I don't like one shot effects like this, but that's just me. To me, for two mana, this could be another ramp spell easily. I'd suggest replacing it with Silverglade Pathfinder to help fill your grave if that's your style.

That's all that I've got for now. If you have any other questions, I'm always floating around tumblr.

Also, feel free to disagree with any of my above statements. Everyone plays the game differently and every playgroup is different. I am not the end-all be-all of EDH.

I'm going to widen this beyond ETB to include activated abilities that don't require tapping and LTB effects you can easily enable. With two exceptions none of these require tapping to use. I'm also going to avoid mentioning anything at 6+ CMC unless it's amazing. Here's what I've found:

Artifact removal: Ingot Chewer - evoke cost makes this viable, Manic Vandal, Stingmoggie is mana-wasteful but can support a LD subtheme, Tin Street Hooligan, Tuktuk Scrapper, Viridian Corrupter, Viridian Shaman, Vithian Renegades, Woodripper

Enchantment Removal: Druid Lyrist - has to tap but cheap to use in an under-covered area.

Both: Caustic Caterpillar, Conclave Naturalists, Indrik Stomphowler, Nantuko Vigilante, Nullmage Shepherd, Sylvok Replica, Viridian Zealot, Wickerbough Elder

You're not in good colors for enchantment-only removal on creatures,
