Waterknot

Enchantment — Aura

Enchant creature

When Waterknot enters the battlefield, tap enchanted creature.

Enchanted creature doesn't untap during its controller's untap step.

Since your deck relies mainly on creatures to win, it makes no sense to me to have just 10, specially considering that 7 of your non creature spells ( Curious Obsession , Swashbuckling ) need a creature to work.

I would remove (sideboard maybe) Waterknot and Shock (or at least change the balance between it and Skewer the Critics and Lightning Strike ) and add some creatures in those 4-6 spaces… Wee Dragonauts is a very good option for it covers a week spot in your deck (Air), and gets buffed every time you use Instants or Sorceries (according to your listing, you would be running 14 -15 of those even after adjusting the creature number), adding to the aggressive nature of your deck. You could get a 7/3 or 3/3, flier bashing for you without too much effort.

Also, Negate seems to be there to shield your creatures. If it is so, you could replace some copies of it with Dive Down , which do the same shielding than Negate but also allow some defensive maneuvers letting your creatures to last longer and to help you against other fast aggressive decks, for less mana.

Hope it helps… keep up the good job!

The reasoning for keeping Singing Bell Strike and Waterknot are not because they tap a creature, but because that creature does NOT untap during it's controller's next untap step.

i would drop Waterknot for Spell Pierce . every deck has a non creature target, and creature heavy decks generally have a powerful target. Curious Obsession is the best. Boomerang is great for this deck too. i would drop the non merfolk cards for merfolk. that way you have the option to use Bident of Thassa and block.

Looter il-Kor for Latch Seeker and River Sneak for Invisible Stalker . if its on budget Delver of Secrets  Flip but you will need to add more spells. all the enchantments seem redundant Ordeal of Thassa , Singing Bell Strike , Waterknot could be replaced by Curious Obsession , Hands of Binding , Hidden Strings or spells like Vapor Snag , Boomerang , etc. Hall of Triumph might be too slow and you can only have one at a time. if you add black to the mix you could have Inkfathom Witch for a bit more reach and better removal plus a few revival cards like Undying Evil and Demonic Vigor , and hand disruption. and having a 4 of Rune Snag will probably help you too, to stop the opponent killing your creatures or getting a threat. that all i got, i think, good luck with the brew.

You want way more advisors. You can cut the Uncomfortable Chill and some Waterknot s.

I feel bugler is too slow/low impact here. Would swap out for Mist-Cloaked Herald for more evasive attackers or Dauntless Bodyguard for more protection on your aura-bearers. You'll be attacking every turn so Chart a Course is better than Sift. Baffling End is better than Luminous Bonds or Waterknot here and I don't think you need that much creature removal since you have Settle the Wreckage. Throwing in some counterspells in place of those could help. Lastly, with all the cheap creatures and auras, you will Ascend quickly so Pride of Conquerors is a great finisher.

Thanks for the feedback! I've made a few chances since I posted it. Non-legal cards removed mostly.

  1. Wretched Camel isn't a must. More of a filler. My collection isn't great so I don't have much choice.

  2. I only have 1 Lord of the Accursed currently so i'll look into getting more.

  3. Lurching Rotbeast is again another filler unfortunately.

  4. The only person I play against at the moment is my girlfriend and she likes to use Waterknot which is why that was included. (I probably should have stuck it in the description).

  5. I'll look into getting more of them as well.

  6. Already removed due to legallity. I only included them to fill space.

Thanks for the feedback you've given me. I'm a new player so i've a lot to learn!

Would you mind telling me what a sideboard is please?

Mono-U has a hard time dealing with creatures on the battlefield. My first advice would be to add more white sources to play Seal Away or Gideon's Reproach for some efficient removal (and budget friendly). If not, you could play some enchantment based "removal" such as Waterknot or some bounce spells like Blink of an Eye and drop the milling plan which is a bit sketchy.
