Can anyone recommend cards? I looked through like 900 cards and only found a few useful cards. I would like to run wizard tribal, but those are not always the best. My favorite cards i've found so far are Sage of the Inward Eye and Warden of the Eye. Both Djinn Wizards and both very useful. I might run these cards with some other cards, but I don't want to run Eldrazi just because unless they're indestructible and hexproof, they will be hated or destroyed or imprisoned.

KingMetalink Thank you for the great suggestions! Can they actually go infinite though? My understanding of Drift/Slide is that since the creature returns during the end step, you're essentially limited to bouncing it once per turn. Please let me know if I'm wrong or missing something! Even without infinite, I do think there's some merit to the cycle returners, and I love that they synergize with the other pingers. I actually started with some tutors and a stronger lean into Slide/Drift but ended up shifting into a more token oriented direction because of the once per turn limit and my general avoidance of linear play. Ultimately I still kept Warden of the Eye around due to his flexibility to return cyclers or other key pieces and stuck with the tokens because I thought they matched up in better pairs without having to put all of my eggs in one basket by relying on Drift/Slide to be and stay in play.

Cards like Spellpyre Phoenix, Warden of the Eye, Archaeomancer, Izzet Chronarch, Mnemonic Wall, and Salvager of Secrets can go infinite if you have Astral Drift or Astral Slide in play alongside your Fluctuator. With a Glint-Horn Buccaneer, Drannith Stinger, or Impact Tremors in play, this lets you infinitely ping the whole table to lethal. The fact that all of those cards are already good makes them relatively easy inclusions. Maybe include Tribute Mage and Idyllic Tutor to let you fetch some of the pieces.

Thanks for the tips Enral! I guess my only qualms with those adjustments would be at what cost do I make them? Warden of the Eye/Scholar of the Ages certainly help the spellslinging theme, but would going that route also include adding Astral Drift? I'm just unsure how worthwhile it would be to hard cast Warden of the Eye or Scholar of the Ages without the ability to blink/flicker them. Or do you think with card advantage and both Astral Slide/Escape Protocol chances are I will draw into one of them? Making a 5 card swap just might come at a significant cost to other synergies.

Having an extra wincon in there would definitely be a boon though. (And Warden/Slide/Decree is filthy, I love it :D)

I've been loving Warden of the Eye/Scholar of the Ages and think it would be a great fit in your style of spellslinging deck. You can cycle through your entire deck using Scholar of the Ages + Turnabout + Escape Protocol + any instant/sorcery cycle to win with Thassa's Oracle as a fun cycling win condition. Warden of the Eye is also pretty sick with Decree of Silence + Astral Slide.

Just discovered PDH and brewed something up around Warden of the Eye. Haven't had much of a chance to test it yet but here it is nonetheless.

I don't have full lists on the decks im building and none of them are fine tuned, more just rough estimates of what the decks will look like. So far I have been trying to figure out the commanders that are viable on a competitive level and so far have found these commanders to be on a competitive level

Some of these commanders don't seem competitive at all but trust me when I say this format is weird and some of these commanders win cons will surprise you. I have been working on cPDH decks for about 1-2 months now and am really trying to pioneer the format, make a bunch of decks, and try and get others into.

When it comes to discord you can always create an account its free, they have it on mobile, mac, windows, or you can just use it in your browser and dont have to download it. I created a server for us so I can update you on the latest things im working and and I can post deck links as I finish them

One huge resource I found helpful is this post containing differend PDH combos:

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/pauper-edh-combo-compendium/

It does not cover every combo available but its a start. Right now im in the process of cutting my decks down to 99 and writing up a quick into to the card choices and combo lines, I am still working on my first one and am nearly done, its for Auriok Salvagers

Auriok Salvagers

I have SO much information and work I have done on this unexplored format and would love to share it with you, discord is a super fluid way to do that as I rarely check my tapped out for messages.
