Howlstone Gargoyle

Artifact Creature - Gargoyle

Flying, Defender

At the beginning of each player's draw step, that player draws an additional card.

Discard your hand: Until end of turn, Howlstone Gargoyle may attack as though it didn't have defender.

Current thoughts circle around designing gargoyle cards. Cards like Wakestone Gargoyle, Voidstone Gargoyle and Nullstone Gargoyle define their power basically by which material they're made of. So what if there'd be a gargoyle made from a material taken from the Howling Mine? This would be this creature. It's a slightly undercosted flyer with integrated symmetrical value and a seemingly harsh cost to be able to attack. Thoughts?

+1 for Gargoyle Tribal!

Just a thought,

Shrieking Grotesque. Since Darklit Gargoyle has a activated ability that you may use, you could benefit from a little hand disruption, too. If you dipped into Black, that gives you access to Duress, Inquisition of Kozilek and Blackmail as well as Utter End and Terminate. Thoughtseize if your budget allows.

Since you have players revealing their hands, Voidstone Gargoyle to keep certain cards from being used, and maybe Sanctum Gargoyle for all the Artifacts in your deck.

For , I would replace the Warden of the Wall with Darksteel Ingot, and Needle Spires with Shambling Vent. All of the Darksteel in your deck, maybe a Darksteel Gargoyle and some board wipe effects.

For something similar to making your enemies attack each other, cards like Brutal Hordechief (you can activate his ability at any time), Bitter Feud (choose two of your opponents), Mystic Barrier (This card looks weird but can be GREAT), Choice of Damnations (just very fun late game), Porphyry Nodes (punishes aggro), and Sorcerous Spyglass (planeswalkers, commanders, etc.) are all very good.

Also in addition to cards like Gideon's Intervention there is Voidstone Gargoyle - it's good with eminence and some other effects, but Gideon's Intervention is more versatile because of the no-damage clause.

Yes it does, once it's out. Between countering spells with creatures I don't have to cast, cheating them out with the Amulet and hard casting counters in hand, most folks don't get to establish as well as they'd like. The other creatures either reload me or remove non creatures.

The original idea had White for Voidstone Gargoyle and Meddling Mage. 2 colors was easier.

Yeah, its just for fun.

What an awesome deck, with a solid versatile inclusion of toolbox creatures. I always thought this would be a cool commander, the deck title is befitting and hilarious! If I may make some potential suggestions, as I do see you already have Murkfiend Liege to untap most of your perms. including Roon, you might want to consider Umbral Mantle

You do have Reflector Mage, and Meddling Mage, but another potent possibility is Voidstone Gargoyle it trumps cards with forecast and just about anything.

Maybe a Pact of Negation would do some justice as well.

As another player said artifacts such as Torpor Orb can be very real, I'd suggest maybe a way for tutoring Aura Shards Long-Term Plans just a thought idk.

It's definitely a very good start. Cards to keep an eye out for:

Spirit of the Labyrinth. This is a must-have for hatebears decks. Halting your opponents from card advantaging you out is insane.

Vryn Wingmare/Thalia, Guardian of Thraben/Glowrider: Why not? Use your cheaper creatures to grind out your opponent. Also tax them for trying to stop you.

Aura of Silence: Again, tax your opponents. Also has an incredible rider on it.

Lodestone Golem: Big beater? Check. Taxes your opponent? Check.

Leonin Arbiter: Tax your opponents, yet again.

Rule of Law: Preventing combos, by the books. Curse of Exhaustion also works, but is single target.

Ethersworn Canonist: Like above, except also beats for 2. A great inclusion.

Hokori, Dust Drinker: Is it a Winter Orb that beats? Sure, why not.

Samurai of the Pale Curtain: While not as amazing as he used to be, still a beater that hurts graveyard based decks.

Dauntless Escort: Because who doesn't like a repeatable Archangel Avacyn  Flip? Bonus points for use with Karmic Guide + Reveillark .

Nezumi Graverobber: Okay, stealing creatures from yards, stripping them bare AND beating down? This guy just isn't fair. Also, Faerie Macabre does well, especially if you have to get something out of a yard.

Voidstone Gargoyle: At 5 mana, less important, but he can lock your opponents out of their commander. Or a board wipe. Or really anything.

Acidic Slime: Cheap, good, repeatable, also just generally good. Did I mention that he was good?

Eternal Witness: Semi-expensive rn, but if you have to get something back, accept NO substitutes.

Qasali Pridemage: Me-ow.

Vampire Hexmage: Opponent has an annoying 'walker? Got a Walking Ballista? Hangarback Walker? They playing Atraxa? Want something dead? Welcome our Hexmage overlords!

Phyrexian Revoker: Legacy staple, also beats for 2.

Dust Elemental: Save 3 dudes, get a beater. All-in-all, a win-win.

Hushwing Gryff: While it does turn off many cards, it also turns off your opponents. Use at your own risk.

Stonecloaker: Just do it.

Oblation: Just do it.

Soul Sculptor: 'Tis but a silly card, and one that really hurts some decks. Very, very badly.

Arena of the Ancients: Opponents relying on legendary creatures? Well fear not, because this turns them all off!

Most of these cards are sub-$2, but they may be somewhat hard to find. Keep an eye out, and your deck will quickly become terrifying.

Also, maybe 5-6 more lands?
