Fun deck, but you only have 6 creatures with CMC 3 or less. I playtested it a couple times, and I never got the Soulflayer until past Turn 10 both times. Seems really contingent on having the Flayer to work. You also only have one source of Blue, and six cards that require it to be cast. I know they are mostly in there for the Soulflayer to Delve, but you don't have many reliable ways to discard the cards in your hand to the grave.

Right now it seems pretty unfocused and scattered. Cards that let you fish through the top X cards in your deck, put one in hand and discard the rest would be good for this deck. Examples include Benefaction of Rhonas, Bitter Revelation, Commune with the Gods, Forbidden Alchemy, Gather the Pack, Gifts Ungiven, Grisly Salvage, Moonlight Bargain, Mulch, Pieces of the Puzzle, Satyr Wayfinder, Scout the Borders, See the Unwritten, Strategic Planning, Sultai Ascendancy, Taigam's Scheming, Tracker's Instincts, Vigean Intuition, and Wood Sage.

Obviously, some of those are better than others. Pick the ones you think combo with the theme you want for this deck the best.

Hey castoravio it's been about 7-8 months since we last talked. I'm sorry to hear that your Modern Elf deck didn't work out. I see that you are starting to play Commander which is a great idea. AEther Vial is definitely not a budget card. In fact the price of it is almost the entire cost of the rest of your deck, haha. If you have Vial that's really awesome use it, it's a powerful card. Just make a note of a more budget friendly alternative card for your viewers who don't.

You have a great start here using Ezuri, Claw of Progress as your Elf tribal Commander. You've constructed your deck really well it's really fine as is, it can win and doesn't really need improvements to win. That being said you've asked for my advice and I'm happy to give it. To keep my suggestions simple I'm going to remove AEther Vial and include upgrades to existing cards your using to match the price of Vial. Vial is $46 therefore the cost of all my upgrade suggestions together is $40-$50. My suggestions include creatures, spells and lands.

Full list of possible upgrades for you to consider:

  1. Master Biomancer
  2. Prime Speaker Zegana
  3. Ezuri, Renegade Leader
  4. Priest of Titania
  5. Joraga Warcaller
  6. Avenger of Zendikar
  7. Imperious Perfect
  8. Wirewood Hivemaster
  9. Lifeblood Hydra

  10. Green Sun's Zenith
  11. Lead the Stampede
  12. Rapid Hybridization
  13. Beast Within
  14. Counterspell or Negate
  15. Brainstorm or Preordain

  16. Command Tower
  17. Hinterland Harbor
  18. Oran-Rief, the Vastwood
  19. Simic Growth Chamber
  20. Temple of Mystery
  21. Yavimaya Coast

I've included six addtional Elves. Master Biomancer and Joraga Warcaller are Elves who care about and use +1/+1 counters. Ezuri, Renegade Leader is one of the better Elves to use in Elf tribal because he can both save Elves and continuously Overrun them which could get crazy with even a few other Elves with +1/+1 counters. You can have both Ezuris on the battlefield at the same time which is great; they have different names even though they are both technically Ezuris.

Wirewood Hivemaster and Imperious Perfect are Elves who can make tokens which is excellent with Ezuri getting both experience counters and having targets for counters. Imperious Perfect is known as an army in a can because by herself she can make an army of 2/2 Elves. I've included Priest of Titania, she's one if not the best mana Elf for Elf tribal.

I've included three bomb huge creatures who all care about counters: Prime Speaker Zegana, Avenger of Zendikar and Lifeblood Hydra. Both Zegana and Lifeblood are not only creatures, but also draw. They can draw you a ton of cards.

The spells I've included are just minor upgrades to the ones you are already using they have lower casting costs and are more efficient. Green Sun's Zenith at $5 is the most expensive nonland card I've included.

The lands make up about $10-$15 of the cost of the upgrades with Hinterland Harbor the most expensive at $5. It's nice to have a few Simic dual lands such as Yavimaya Coast and Command Tower which don't come into play tapped to help you play your blue cards easier while also being able to play your green cards.

Out of all these upgrades the four which are the best to make are Master Biomancer, Prime Speaker Zegana, Ezuri, Renegade Leader and Priest of Titania.

Consider these cards to be replaced:

Kaladesh has a few cards which might excite you:

  1. Armorcraft Judge
  2. Cultivator of Blades
  3. Animation Module

  4. Verdurous Gearhulk

Good luck with you deck.

I don't know if Sages of the Anima is a good choice for this commander. your commander pulls creatures out of your deck and sages only lets you draw creatures so late game you might not be drawing anything with them out. How is Vigean Intuition in here? I feel like that is not really the strongest card either. consider replacing them with Archetype of Imagination and Stormtide Leviathan make for a sweet lockdown in a deck who's commander can fetch a creature everytime you play a creature.
