Temple Altisaur Discussion

I would recommend, if you want to keep green, use it more for ramp than you are atm. I would also recomend replacing Slash of Talons with Lightning Bolt, Crested Herdcaller with Regisaur Alpha, Two Huatli's Snubhorn with Temple Altisaur's, Everdawn Champion with Atzocan Seer, balance the land a little more, maybe some Dual Shots and Ranging Raptors for ramp and enrage triggers, maybe one Ravenous Daggertooth instead of an Imperial Ceratops so you can get enrage lifegain earlier, it's also more of an earlier bait target for removal which will benefit you. Also Regrowth, Destructive Revelry for your sideboard. Otherwise removing green, adding in more red like Silverclad Ferocidons, Raptor Hatchling and Charging Monstrosaur and the white and red Ixalan Avatars, if you cut out the green you could also lean into more of the lifegain aspect with some give lifelink spells on your fliers then you can chump block small boys with either face or enrage dinos.

I'm a pretty big fan of dinosaurs, this deck overall looks good, could use a little work though. As far as lands go, I'd add in Jungle Shrine, Path of Ancestry, Rogue's Passage, and Kessig Wolf Run. If you want to splurge and ensure you can color fix more reliably, maybe throw in City of Brass, Mana Confluence, and Forbidden Orchard too. One of my favorite cards in this deck is Congregation at Dawn because it can either set up your commander to do crazy work, or just set you up for a combo, or even just grab a few mana dorks. Defense of the Heart is also a fantastic card in this deck. I like to run Return to Dust in any deck that can run it because it's stellar removal. I see you have a couple Huatli planeswalkers, and they're good, but I'd also consider Domri Rade and Samut, the Tested. As for creatures, I see you have a few that can trigger the 'Enrage' keyword, but only two creatures that have the keyword. I built my dino deck around that keyword becuase I think it's really powerful. Consider adding in Bellowing Aegisaur, Ripjaw Raptor, Siegehorn Ceratops, Silverclad Ferocidons, and Trapjaw Tyrant. I'd also consider adding in Zacama, Primal Calamity, Temple Altisaur, and Territorial Hammerskull. For creatures to support your dinos, Drover of the Mighty, Druid of the Anima, and Priest of the Wakening Sun and all pretty good. Odric, Lunarch Marshal is an include in this deck because of all the keywords flying around, Zetalpa, Primal Dawn is a reason enough to include him. They're not dinos, but there are two gods from Theros block that are great in here (and in general) Xenagos, God of Revels and Iroas, God of Victory are worthy includes in my opinion. For artifacts I like Door of Destinies and Caltrops to trigger your enrage abilities. Those are just a few suggestions, if you want to check out my dinosaur tech I'll link it here.

Redirection effects don't change the source of the damage. It is true that all combat damage is dealt simultaniously, but much like if Temple Altisaur were double blocked there are 2 sources dealing damage to it and each source is reduced to 1 for a total of 2.

If I attack with two Temple Altisaur and one gets targeted by Turn the Tables by my opponent, does it take 1 or 2 damage? And is that damage combat damage or can Mark of Asylum prevent it?

Steely Resolve is a nice tribal protection enchantment that can protect your dinosaurs.

I'd say Heroic Intervention and Boros Charm are both very important to protecting your dinosaurs and the charm is even better for sudden double strike on Gishath. Both cards also enable a potential Forerunner of the Empire, Polyraptor / Raptor Hatchling infinite token enrage win con with the indestructibility.

I've also personally had success running a damage board wipe package alongside the indestructibility spells (and Temple Altisaur ) like Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, and Wave of Reckoning just to get that enrage value. Board wipes hurt in Gishath, but sometimes you just have to. You can at least get something out of it if you have enrage dinosaurs out using those spells. Getting the occasional one sided wipe with the package of cards alongside enrage has always felt good.

Hornet Nest is also hilarious with those wipes and is pretty nice for help against flying threats. Chaosphere is also a cool enchantment against flying heavy metas.

True that. For the best decks, you gotta pony up. Oh, the eternal struggle of a magic player.

I took a look at all the Green/White creatures in Standard atm, and this is the list of creatures I would consider for a Dinosaur deck in these colors:

Imperial Lancer
Kinjalli's Caller
Priest of the Wakening Sun
Cherished Hatchling
Drover of the Mighty
Raptor Companion
Atzocan Seer
Deathgorge Scavenger
Kinjalli's Sunwing
Orazca Frillback
Ranging Raptors
Ravenous Daggertooth
Renegade Rallier
Rhonas the Indomitable
Territorial Hammerskull
Thrashing Brontodon
Knight of the Stampede
Ripjaw Raptor
Territorial Allosaurus
Crested Herdcaller
Snapping Sailback
Temple Altisaur
Trapjaw Tyrant
Carnage Tyrant
Goring Ceratops
Wakening Sun's Avatar
Zetalpa, Primal Dawn
Ghalta, Primal Hunger

I would consider maybe focusing on the lower CMC Dinos to populate the majority of the deck and have Wakening Sun's Avatar as a finisher. Your curve is a little wonky, and you'll want to smooth it out a tad.

if you want to pursue the idea of a more dino-based zacama, a few cards you might want to try are Charging Monstrosaur, Bellowing Aegisaur, Cherished Hatchling, Etali, Primal Storm, Gishath, Sun's Avatar, Goring Ceratops , Kinjalli's Sunwing, Polyraptor, Raging Swordtooth, Regisaur Alpha, Temple Altisaur, Wakening Sun's Avatar, and Zetalpa, Primal Dawn. I didn't actually check how expensive these are but i assume they're not too hard on the wallet (?)

Your lands could be improved by using the untapped dual lands (Rootbound Crag, Clifftop Retreat, Sunpetal Grove) and replacing the taplands you're currently using. Some dinosaur all-stars are Ranging Raptors (also fixes your mana!) and Ripjaw Raptor. Forerunner of the Empire also deserves a mention here as both an enrage enabler and a tutor. Otepec Huntmaster is also surprisingly good, as it both ramps your dinosaurs and can lead to a nasty surprise when you do cast them. Finally, I'm surprised to not see any Regisaur Alpha. That card is really good in any dino deck.

Blessed Light is not a great card, so I'd start with removing that. In the same vein, Temple Altisaur, Sun-Collared Raptor, Raptor Companion, and Knight of the Stampede are rather lackluster cards. If you need a sideboard as well, please let me know, I'd be happy to add something for that as well. I hope this helps!
