Specter's Shriek

Specter's Shriek

Target opponent reveals their hand. You may choose a nonland card from it. If you do, that player exiles that card. If a nonblack card is exiled this way, exile a card from your hand.

Specter's Shriek Discussion

Fatal Push is actually pretty cheap rn. A lot worse in pioneer than modern but still better than Heartless Act in my opinion for this deck.

Specter's Shriek is some serious card disadvantage, I'd run Duress over that tbh. Although both are probably better sideboard cards.

DeinoStinkus I'm not looking to trigger hellbent, but I know what you mean. I play Specter's Shriek in another deck of mine, maybe I should slot that in somewhere

rekkoha002 "target"ing spell is just only Specter's Shriek. and Davriel's strong part is passive.

Lili is bad if you can't get her to transform, and even if you do transform her, you'll mainly +2 her, which means Rankle is just better. Smasher is okay, but I prefer Regie, and his upkeep cost will help load up the yard to escape Kroxa. Agonizing Remorse is bad in a deck with Waste Not since it's not discard (but if your meta is namely black decks, Specter's Shriek is obviously better).

Those are the only upgrades I can see, but then, I don't run Kroxa, so my deck is a bit different. Looks good tho!

In standard (Arena) I'm playing a Kroxa-Lurrus Deck which is rather control oriented.

Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger, Burglar Rat, Agonizing Remorse, and Specter's Shriek for hand disruption.

Extinction Event, Pharika's Libation, Angrath's Rampage, and Bedevil are the removal package.

Lurrus of the Dream-Den and Order of Midnight for recursion.

Destroy target nonenchantment, nonland permanent, its controller sacrifices a nonland permanent and discards a card. If fewer than three cards entered their library this turn, Disruption deals 3 damage to that player.

You may cast Disruption from your graveyard.

I'd like to see a similar card, however I'd like it to be two-in-one, either Aftermath/flashback/jumpstart or flip-card, or split card, etc.

Love the idea and love Lurrus! Here are a few cards I think might fit in:

Yarok's Fenlurker is another Burglar Rat that might be better than Pilfering Imp, since Imp can only rip a card every other turn.

Dreadhorde Invasion I think will be really good here, to give you a never-ending stream of sac fodder or as a win-con once you have them topdecking. It's like a worse Bitterblossom! Perhaps over the Vicious Rumors?

You can also consider Piper of the Swarm if you end up needing a mana sink.

I strongly suggest at least 20 lands, especially in a two-color deck, even with a curve this low. Mono-red typically runs 20 at fewest and also ends around 3 CMC and has the advantage of being one color. I would cut Specter's Shriek and maybe a Bankrupt in Blood to add +2 Blood Crypt and +1 Swamp. Given that you run so many 1 & 2 drops, you might also want to swap the Triomes for more basics or Fabled Passage if budget allows!

I love the creature heavy design with so many threats. If your going for more hand disruption I’d throw in a play set of Thoughtseize if you have them or Specter's Shriek as a budget alternative.

How do you feel about Specter's Shriek? I'm running a budget list with 3 Duress and 2 Harsh Scrutiny and I'm not sure if it's worth running.. It can help you get under Ensnaring Bridge quickly too. But it takes 2 of your cards to take one of theirs (most of the time.)

Any thoughts?
