(1)(Black): Spawning Pool becomes a 1/1 black Skeleton creature with "(Black): Regenerate this creature" until end of turn. It's still a land. (If it regenerates, the next time it would be destroyed this turn, it isn't. Instead tap it, remove all damage from it, and remove it from combat.)

crawler3: ya, same with my group. I pulled the combo once and then scrapped it, just wasn't a fun win.

I'd say definitely add in man-lands as they'll avoid board wipes and you'll have the option to attack with them if the way is clear. Others Forbidding Watchtower, Spawning Pool. And then there's Blighted Fen and Kjeldoran Outpost for added fun.

Ghost Quarter would help thin out their land draws when you have other destroy land cards Spawning Pool a blocker that can come back

Very cool take on marchesa...have you thought of inclusion of manlands like Mutavault/Forbidding Watchtower/Ghitu Encampment/Lavaclaw Reaches/Spawning Pool to crew your vehicles in case you don't have a creature on the board? Token generator like Assemble the Legion/Bitterblossom/Elspeth, Sun's Champion are also great for more crew.

I appreciate that there's that combo in the deck, however I don't think you're running enough to capitalise on it at the moment. If you cut hte Cauldron of Souls for Mikaeus, the Unhallowed then you could potentially cut Spawning Pit instead. That way you have a combo with Mike + Ashnod's + Deathmantle and any other creature (like your commander) on top of the Grave Titan one.

Nice Build.

You're missing some awesome demons though: Reiver Demon, Blood Speaker, Dread Cacodemon, Indulgent Tormentor, Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis.

In mono black, I'd find a way to get Gray Merchant of Asphodel in there too.

Other lands to consider adding: Cabal Coffers, Everglades, Leechridden Swamp, Spawning Pool, and Ghost Quarter.

I was on the fence about Dash Hopes. It doesn't really shut down any strategies. I was mainly just considering it for its similarity to Painful Quandary, but its not as game changing, so I will stop stressing over trying to make room for it. Thank you!

Could you go into more detail why Black Sun's Zenith over Death Cloud? I find sometimes against midrange decks with lots of fatties on the field that for 5 mana I get so much more out of Death Cloud than I do with Black Sun's Zenith as it basically sends us back to turn 3 with empty hands while BSZ only slightly cripples their creatures to a point I can only hope within range of a double Darkblast. Also a tutorable wrath is pretty sweet.

I am not really into Augur of Skulls. I tried him before and ended up replacing him with Spawning Pool to make more room for other spells as I found he too easily died to a bolt the turn he comes out whenever I want him to do something more useful like defend or 2-for-1 the opponent's hand. I like where your head is at though!

Big Game Hunter -- an obvious include, obviously included here

Citanul Flute -- a bad, win more card

Corrosive Mentor -- yeah sure, could find a place in some decks, makes blocking more valuable. Synergy (undesired here) with Crypt Rats.

Demon of Death's Gate -- also nothing to celebrate, and useless without the alternative cost -- and we have Westvale Abbey  Flip now

Whispersilk Cloak -- sure, for a voltron version, this works well

Hex Parasite -- included in my deck, it's a great card, especially when you can find your Glacial Chasm or when you have over-extended with Smokestack

Lightning Coils -- a fun card, that get's blown up

Mesmeric Fiend -- a great card that I run

Spawning Pool -- sucks, run Blinkmoth Nexus and Inkmoth Nexus, but not this

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled -- it's just a big body, and doesn't even prevent opponents from tutoring

Endless Whispers -- doesn't work, hoses Shirei

No Rest for the Wicked -- I guess, but why not run Phyrexian Reclamation instead

Grave Betrayal -- mediocre

Phyrexian Plaguelord -- a fun card for shirei, but there are cheaper and more useful creature killers. Mostly just too expensive to get out. If you have snowballed to the point of recurring 4 - 5 creatures, then you have won.

Shadows of the Past -- sure yeah, but better/more conventional options... Grim Haruspex family of cards, Viscera Seer is downright better most of the time.

Tragic Slip -- mhm, and Malicious Affliction too

Sorceress Queen -- yeah, moderately useful ability, but the moment you dive into "fun shenanigans" is the moment you lose the game
