Sleight of Mind

Instant

Change the text of target spell or permanent by replacing all instances of one color word with another. (For example, you may change "target black spell" to "target blue spell." This effect lasts indefinitely.)

Sleight of Mind Discussion

My Sleight of Mind is not foil and I can't find the foil Trait Doctoring even though I know it's somewhere. And I picked up all the expensive things I need in MagicFest Dallas so all that interests me are random cheap commander cards like Apprentice Necromancer and stuff.

Hackball is a cEdh deck that uses Momir Vig, Simic Visionary with Sleight of Mind to chain multiple creatures together, gaining advantage through elf synergy via Heritage Druid Nettle Sentinel Phantasmal Image .

This is the main decklist for tappedout: hackball for more indepth information

If you really want to control people, change out your commander for Llawan, Cephalid Empress and play Whim of Volrath and Sleight of Mind and Alter Reality

Really shuts down those mono-color decks.

Good luck, i love tribal decks. The more unusually the better.

Sleight of Mind and it's other handful of similar effects allow you to make Momir's abilities both trigger off of casting blue creatures.

Hi Baka-Mangaka! I really like the deck you have here. I can honestly say that I've never seen a Momir Vig, Simic Visionary deck like this before, perhaps maybe because I rarely even get to play my deck too often. This deck is super fast and competitive and I have to commend you for it. Just having Altar of the Brood on the field can just win you games once you have your engine going. The only small things I would change is to put more multicolored creatures in the deck like Coiling Oracle or Thrasios, Triton Hero just in case you have trouble finding your Sleight of Mind effect cards. While you're at it, you could also throw in a Simic Signet or other ramp spells, but you already have a lot of creatures that do that for you so I can understand if you'd choose not to. My own Momir Vig, Simic Visionary deck is based around a board lock combo instead of vomiting value onto the battlefield. If you'd ever want to check out that deck to see more options for tuning this deck, you're more than welcome to do so anytime! Nice Job!

Instants Out: Sleight of Mind this was your only color word change without a unique effect like play form graveyard that also didn't change landwalk for you commander.

Instants In: Reality Shift seems in theme, 2 mana exile creature

Artifacts In: Fellwar Stone, Talisman of Indulgence, Talisman of Dominance,

Commander's Sphere is strictly better than Obelisk of Grixis

I think you have too many lands that come into play tapped. Are you running any spells with devoid that synergize with Corrupted Crossroads? I would cut down on lands (to 33) to make room for the artifacts.

702.95a Overload is a keyword that represents two static abilities that function while the spell with overload is on the stack. Overload [cost] means "You may choose to pay [cost] rather than pay this spell's mana cost" and "If you chose to pay this spell's overload cost, change its text by replacing all instances of the word 'target' with the word 'each.'" Using the overload ability follows the rules for paying alternative costs in rules 601.2b and 601.2fh.

So you Mizzium Mortars for it's overload cost, so it effectively reads:

Mizzium Mortars deals 4 damage to target creature you don't control.
If you chose to pay this spell's overload cost, change it's text by replacing all instances of the word 'target' with the word 'each'
(And some other text that won't be relevant)

You the apply the text changing effect in Layer 3, so it now reads:

Mizzium Mortars deals 4 damage to each creature you don't control.
If you pay this spell's overload cost, change it's text by replacing all instances of the word 'each' with the word 'each'
(And some other text that won't be relevant)

You then cast Twincast on the Mizzium Mortars:

The copy is effectively textless to start, but then we hit Layer 1 which applies the copy effect:
Mizzium Mortars deals 4 damage to target creature you don't control.
If you chose to pay this spell's overload cost, change it's text by replacing all instances of the word 'target' with the word 'each'
(And some other text that won't be relevant)

The text changing effect wasn't copied, but the text changing ability was. Because choices made during the casting of the original spell are copied over, when we ask "was this overloaded?" we get the answer "yes." Now we look at Layer 3 again and the spell's text changes to:

Mizzium Mortars deals 4 damage to each creature you don't control.
If you pay this spell's overload cost, change it's text by replacing all instances of the word 'each' with the word 'each'
(And some other text that won't be relevant)

So even though text changing effects aren't copied, it doesn't matter for overloaded spells, they still say 'each.' When text changing effects on spells would not be copied would be if someone cast Sleight of Mind.
