update - drawing way too many lands, cant play anything else with such a high number.

early card draw is severely lacking. mid/late game there are some GREAT options in Honden of Seeing Winds and Sire of the Storm. but they are inaccessible early game, making the deck feel slow over all.

needs a couple tutors possibly: kept finding myself in need of Yuki-Onna in particular, and no way to go grab her.

possible switching of the removal card. while you can't beat the efficiency of Swords to Plowshares, I may trade efficiency for value. Crib Swap is a tribal shapeshifting instant that would count as a spirit.this would give it some recurrability, and also trigger all of my "whenever you play a spirit or arcane spell" abilities.

Changes:Forest -> Windborn Muse / Plains -> Swords to Plowshares / Forest -> Kami of the Cresent Moon

I would try cutting back on some of the single use token producers and focus more on repeatable token production. Custodi Soulbinders and Twilight Drover are some great repeatable token producers I see in your maybeboard that I think should totally make the main deck. Baku Altar is kind of mediocre, but is another way to repeatably generate spirit tokens.

There are a lot of great spirit effects that trigger off of casting spirit spells, and I think a great way to synergize with this is self-bounce effects. Nikko-Onna is repeatable enchantment removal that also triggers on cast effects. Nebelgast Herald can tap down opposing creatures, either to protect you from attacks or to tap down potential blockers. Sire of the Storm lets you draw cards off of your spirits, and Bygone Bishop does the same for all your cheap creatures. Spectral Shepherd lets you repeatably bounce your own spirits, whether to save them from removal or just reuse their etb effects. Celestial Kirin is a great piece of repeatable removal triggering off of your spirit casts. Another great way to bounce your own spirits is Crystal Shard. It can also disrupt your opponents by forcing them to leave up a mana (2 if you attempt to bounce at eot and again on your turn) to prevent their creatures from being returned to hand.

MagicalHacker on Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update ...

Welcome, fellow planeswalkers, to the Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update (OMCLU) for Commander 2017!

If you are not aware, I have had lists for commander staple effects for a very long time now, and I have been updating them as new sets are released. Unlike other staple lists that showcase individual cards that are commonly used (which does better anyways), I instead use these lists to show all cards in categories that have proven to be advantageous to have in Commander. More specifically, these categories of staples are ones that answer certain problems a deck could be experiencing, such as having a hard time against control, not being able to play cards in hand quickly enough, or dealing with problematic commanders. (The full list can be found on my profile.)

The purpose of this thread is three-fold:

  1. To raise public awareness for these lists (which I know to be extremely useful since I use them more than literally any other resource online when building decks), especially for the newest additions to them.

  2. To receive feedback about C17 cards that should be added/removed from lists, as I am only human and make mistakes too.

  3. To receive feedback about older cards that should be added/removed from lists. I'm surprised how many times I miss cards when they should be included.

Commander 2017 is up on Gatherer, so its now time to go through the process of updating my decks! (Sorry for the delay, I was working through some technical difficulties.)

If you can bring yourself to bring a little weird in and a little rags and chains out, the spirits and arcanes from kamigawa could really give you a boost. Check out stuff like Oyobi, Who Split the Heavens, Long-Forgotten Gohei, Waxmane Baku, and Sire of the Storm. If that stuff is to weird I'd recommend stuff like Drogskol Captain, Sturmgeist, Battleground Geist, Geist Snatch. I hope these help. Have an awesome day!

The above comment is right that Azorius Herald seems like a decent non-legendary value creature. So does Stormbound Geist.

One issue you might find with finding finishers to cheat out with Call to the Kindred is that a lot of Spirit cards have abilities that are related to Auras or Blinkng, which aren't always super-relevant in your deck. So assuming your criteria are non-legend Spirits in UW that aren't impossible to cast:

Tallowisp is kind of cool for helping you get Call to the Kindred, allowing you to run fewer copies, and maybe chuck in something like Steel of the Godhead or another useful Aura.

Lone Revenant is underwhelming, but it's still a 4/4 hexproof.

I don't really like Drogskol Reaver or Sire of the Storm, but you could potentially cheat either out and have some serious card advantage.

No data for this card yet.
