Evolving Wilds is the better of the two, but shocks and buddy lands should have 3-color covered.

Sideboard:

I'd run another Sorcerous Spyglass against walkers, from controlling ones like Teferi and Ral to the midrangy Vraskas.

Silent Gravestone is normally better than Ashes of the Abhorrent, so at leas switch one, but I like ashes for the lifegain.

Burn is a big threat in the meta, so Shield Mare feels like a sweet one of at least for a single Citywide Bust.

gabehare, I will probably swap the Shield Mare out for some Ashes of the Abhorrent if graveyard becomes bigger here. My sideboard is mostly against my LGS's meta: UW or UB control, Superfriends, and Aggro. I do think it will get big but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. :p

So, although the appeal of cards like Sovereign's Bite is obvious, it doesn't necessarily change the board any or give you anything else. Another card that suffers from this is Healing Grace. Bite does give you damage and Grace could help a creature stay alive in a fight, but I'm sure that's worth it. Do you see what I mean? You could totally run cards that give you the life you're looking for with other abilities such as Revitalize, Ritual of Rejuvenation, Shield Mare, etc.

Hey, welcome to Magic and welcome to TappedOut. For a first deck this is fine, but it's really more a list of cards you want to play than a deck. Which is also fine, everyone starts out with making lists of cards they like. The next step is to pick the best cards of the entire list and play more copies of each of them (not as 1 ofs). I say this because just about the entire deck here is made up of 1 ofs (one copy of the card). This is not how you want to build a Standard deck. Instead of all 1 ofs pick the better cards and play them as 4 ofs or 3 ofs, very few 1 ofs. Sometimes due to budget it's not possible to play 4 ofs of rares or mythic rares, but for commons and uncommons it's not difficult.

Do you have more copies of a lot of the uncommons here? Do you have more of: Knight of Malice, Knight of Grace, Ravenous Chupacabra, Seal Away, Cast Down, Murder? I just named the best cards here and more copies of all of them is a good start to improving your deck. These cards however have nothing to do with lifegain. Consider dropping that strategy and just playing good cards in black and white?


Here's a few other good uncommons in colors black or white to consider adding:

Here's a start for a possible creature base:

  • 4x Knight of Malice
  • 4x Knight of Grace
  • 3x Kitesail Freebooter
  • 4x Militia Bugler
  • 3x Ravenous Chupacabra
  • 1x Elenda, the Dusk Rose
  • 1x Deadeye Tracker

This creature base is based on Bulger's enters the battlefield (ETB) ability to find a creature with 2 power or less and if you reveal one put it into hand. If you reveal a creature with Bulger's ability you can put it into your hand because every creature in this base has 2 or less power. Bugler and Chupacabra for instance have nice synergy because you can potentially find a creature removal spell with Bulger since if Chupacrabra is revealed you can put it into your hand.

I would try to merge the themes closer. First of all, you need to think of one or two unifying themes of the deck. I would suggest Mentor of the Meek and Ajani's Pridemate, since you are already running some life-gain. I would then add cards like Shield Mare and Diamond Mare. These not only give you life for the Pridemate, they are also triggers for Mentor. Leonin Warleader and Shalai, Voice of Plenty are good ideas, and I would stop my curve there. And add a few more if possible. I would add a few more.

For the final list, I would go something like, 4x Pridemate, 4x Mentor, 4x Elves, 4x Shield Mare, 4x Merfolk Branchwalker, 4x Militia Bugler, 3x Diamond Mare, 3x Leonin Warleader, 2x Shalai, 4x Ajani's Welcome and 24 lands for the main deck - even though you will be drawing a lot of cards, don't underestimate the cost of paying for the Mentor-ability, especially if you are going to do it multiple times per turn. It will also help plenty with Shalai, Voice of Plenty. And that would be the entire main deck, 60.

For sideboard, I would play any number of Reclamation Sage (over Bronty Boi, since it works with Mentor and stays after doing its thing), Thorn Lieutenant, Knight of Grace, Seal Away, Vine Mare and possibly a card like Ancient Animus. Choose the amount of each that you would feel comfortable with. Knight and Vine Mare might be overkill together though.

This is me trying to give advice that is budget- and rotation-friendly.

Hey! I just tested a few games with it, and it got ran over pretty hard by aggro/burn decks.

Your creature curve is pretty harsh--only total of 6 creatures all the way up to the 3-slot. Authority of the Consuls is a good way to mitigate this a little bit, but not quite enough on its own. There are a handful of good white creatures out there in the 1-2-3 slot that could work with your ETB/Panharmonicon theme. Shield Mare, Sunscourge Champion, for example give you some more early plays, or even just a set of Seal Away or Baffling End to keep you alive until turn 5. Even a couple of Sacred Cats could go a long way to keeping you from dying to Bomat Courier. Knight of Grace could also be sweet--great blocker in the 2-slot. Since you're playing the Tribal bonuses in Radiant Destiny and Vanquisher's Banner (presumably putting them on Angel), you probably want Shalai, Voice of Plenty. Even without the ETB trigger, she is a great angel, and keeps your other angels hexproofed.

It's a cool shell, and a great synergy plan, but overall I found it a little inconsistent and very weak to aggressive decks. Maybe go down the one Bishop of Binding and go up the 4th Fairgrounds Warden.

In general, try to use more 4-ofs! If the card is central to the deck's strategy, play all 4 copies! If your curve is too high, then pick the one that works best. If Angel of Sanctions is your key gameplan, then use all 4 and go down the other angels that aren't AS good. This will just help your deck play more consistently--you'll get the drops you really want more often.

Then make a sideboard! Settle the Wreckage, Fumigate, some Invoke the Divine maybe. A couple of Ixalan's Binding wouldn't hurt probably.
