What about "protection from"? This seems like a viable option, especially if you're willing to go harder into Green and white. Enchantments like Circle of Protection: Green or Rune of Protection: Green are options, or things like Brave the Elements , Mother of Runes , Ward of Lights , Spectra Ward are very helpful. I'm going to start a cut leaning harder into protection/Damage prevention and see where that gets me. Looking at cards like Blinding Fog , Divine Light , Forfend , Heart of Light , or my personal favorite, Inviolability . I have done evil, evil things with Inviolability. Hold back the hordes! I'll probably work at building something over the next couple of days.

i would take out Lone Missionary for Veteran Armorer or Lumithread Field to protect your creatures form Electrickery . Cut a Mourning Thrull , a Soul Warden OR a Soul's Attendant and a Plains for 3x Night's Whisper , you are going to need the card draw. Replace the Castigate with Harsh Sustenance or Unmake.

sideboard:

Take out Shadowfeed and put in Beckon Apparition , i think it will synergies with with the soul sisters and Edge of the Divinity by giving you a white/black creature token. take out Nihil Spellbomb for Relic of Progenitus , trade out the Swamp in the sideboard for a Bojuka Bog or 2x by taking out 1x Bonesplitter . Replace the Castigate and Disenchant with 3x Standard Bearer.

maybeboard:

Crimson Acolyte , Obsidian Acolyte , Prismatic Strands , Battle Screech , Rune of Protection: Red , Rune of Protection: Green , Epicure of Blood , Oblivion Ring

sorry about the last post with no hyperlinks to the card names. i am new

I can see the merits of running Rune of Protection: Red but I feel like the second best or stronger is Rune of Protection: White. Prevention of damage can bypass shroud and hexproof creatures and white specializes in Lightning Greaves//Swiftfoot Boots and tutoring those cards with Steelshaper's Gift, Stoneforge Mystic, Open the Armory, etc. which Rune of Protection: White heavily turns off a lot of voltron-style decks. It's also incredible at turning off a lot of other hard to remove EDH generals such as Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Zetalpa, Primal Dawn, Akroma, Angel of Wrath, Bruna, Light of Alabaster, Sigarda, Host of Herons, Zur the Enchanter, Uril, the Miststalker, Narset, Enlightened Master and Zurgo Helmsmasher. Those generals may be more niche of a damage source than red or green, but that's where the cycling is helpful whereas spot removal can be more effective at dealing with the red and green damage sources.

Rune of Protection: Green I think may be a bit over-valued as the color green I think is a little too good at artifact/enchantment removal, especially when it comes to stapling that effect on their own creatures such as Acidic Slime, Bane of Progress, Caustic Caterpillar, Gemrazer, Reclamation Sage, Sawtusk Demolisher, Trygon Predator, Terastodon, Woodfall Primus. I feel like green could easily remove the rune before you could get much value out of it and that you'd be better off sticking to spot removal. I know white also has enchantment removal but their removal spells I find to be less practical and as efficient as green meaning you wouldn't find as much enchantment removal in a white deck as you would a green deck.

Cards: Rune of Protection: Artifacts, || Rune of Protection: Black, || Rune of Protection: Blue, || Rune of Protection: Green, || Rune of Protection: Red, || Rune of Protection: White.

I know it highly differs on the meta, but if you had to run only two of these cards in your deck and they had to be present for any given playgroup you'd find yourself in which ones would you include in your deck and why?

Also yes, I know Story Circle exists however, that doesn't mean every game I play I'm going to want a damage prevention effect. I like the Rune of Protection cards as they offer cycling if there's absolutely no need for any damage prevention.

Continuing from before...

  1. I like your choice of Wraths. If you're reconsidering, think about Cataclysm -- one of the strongest of them all, and from Exodus! -- or the game's only instant-speed Wrath, Fated Retribution. Also consider Catastrophe or Armageddon to knock out enemy lands, once you've got a good board state or you think there's a Genesis Wave coming. (12 lands is the magic number.) Land destruction is dishonorable, but Zacama's more dishonorable than that; I'm trying to teach myself that if the card isn't banned, it's not dishonorable enough to not use.
  2. Cessation is a lot harder to kill than Pacifism.
  3. If you're willing to use planeswalkers, Elspeth Tirel is a reusable Wrath/Disk; the other two Elspeths give you chump-attackers for Sword of the Animist. Gideon of the Trials gives you a Gideon Worship effect, and there are other playable Gideons. OTOH, planeswalkers aren't exactly Rebel-era cards -- I can understand not wanting to use them, and I think you can win without them.
  4. Angel's Trumpet is a crazy, game-warping card which... probably doesn't have a place here after all, since it creates a risk of the enemy killing your utility creatures. But it's worth knowing about, I think.
  5. Rune of Protection: Red and Rune of Protection: Green. Since you're mono-white, the W requirement isn't a drawback, and you can cycle them in the wildly unlikely event that you don't face any Gruul, Elementals, dinosaurs, or treefolk.
  6. Icatian Store is a mono-white storage land. I have no idea if storage lands are worth bothering with or not, but I'm kind of liking them so far.
  7. Zhuge Liang (Kongming, "Sleeping Dragon") is always useful in White Weenie. Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is probably a stronger option, but I don't like Phyrexians on a Vorthos level; it's much more fun to run historical figures. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhuge_Liang)
  8. Pariah and Pariah's Shield have fun interactions with Cho-Manno, but probably aren't necessary if you're using a relevant Circle/Rune of Protection.

Regardless, great work so far! I found that a lot of the cards I was going to recommend were already in the deck; and I'm hanging on to this deck for future reference. If I ever build something similar, this will be the starting point!
