Rune of Protection: Black

Killing Wave

No, because Killing Wave doesn't deal damage.

The most important thing is going to be your meta, but in a vacuum I would not pick Rune of Protection: Black, because the most popular black win conditions are going to be "loss of life", which can't be prevented. The black Rune is going to be powerless to stop Torment of Hailfire, Debt to the Deathless, and Blood Artist effects. Red is one of the better ones, and so for me it comes down to White and Green, whichever you are more scared of hitting you with a big creature.

Cards: Rune of Protection: Artifacts, || Rune of Protection: Black, || Rune of Protection: Blue, || Rune of Protection: Green, || Rune of Protection: Red, || Rune of Protection: White.

I know it highly differs on the meta, but if you had to run only two of these cards in your deck and they had to be present for any given playgroup you'd find yourself in which ones would you include in your deck and why?

Also yes, I know Story Circle exists however, that doesn't mean every game I play I'm going to want a damage prevention effect. I like the Rune of Protection cards as they offer cycling if there's absolutely no need for any damage prevention.

You might want to try the Rune cycle instead of Circles. For example, Rune of Protection: Black

Veldt is out of your color identity, and 34 lands overall seems much to low considering you're running no real acceleration. I'd consider going up to 37 or 38, and adding few mana rocks.

Ghostly Prison/Sphere of Safety are powerful, and deter attacks towards you without you needing to use more resources.

Consider dropping the Circle of Protection enchantments for Rune of Protection: Black and its cycle. You're already mono-w so paying for it is still easy, but this cycle gives you the option to cycle. In a deck like this you're going to want the ability to get a fresh card if there is no red at the table, lets say.

Crown of Awe/Mask of Law and Grace may be overall better as Absolute Law/Absolute Grace. They do mess with the entire table though, so you may not want that.

If I used Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, I'd have to include a few Circle of Protection: Black and/or Rune of Protection: Black, else I'd be taking the same hits from Karma too. I'm making too much use of auras to use Painter's Servant, so that would require a big deck change. This is strictly an anti-vampire deck and not one I plan to keep constructed all the time, so I'll leave these cards out.

Your ideas make me want to make a novelty deck based on them, though. I could include 4 Painter's Servant, one or two Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth (to make sure I find one), a bunch of color hosers of the does-damage variety, Circles or Runes of Protection aimed at the appropriate colors, and a few Indestructibility. Add a touch of removal, discard, and/or countermagic to protect the key stuff, and it could be a lot of fun.
