StormageddonBHOJ along those lines, I like running See Beyond and Amass the Components because it lets me draw and shuffle back a big dragon that I'd rather tutor back out with Scion. This is especially true for dragons that protect Scion like Silumgar, the Drifting Death or Quicksilver Dragon.

Update February 16, 2022

I need to get around to finishing the primer, and there are a few dragons printed in recent sets that I am considering for the deck. The following are on my list-

1) Kairi, the Swirling Sky This new dragon has a lot of potential. What is most important is its ward ability, which can cause targeted removal against us to fizzle. Being able to use Scion's ability to protect itself is the best, and we heavily rely on Silumgar, the Drifting Death and Quicksilver Dragon for this. More protection pieces are highly welcome. It's also nice to have consolation for when Scion dies to a board wipe. Getting to mill some more dragons into our graveyard or draw some of our many instants and sorceries for free is a great value, and there may be times when we want to get some revenge by bouncing some of our opponent's non-creature permanents. This is good value all around.

2) Iymrith, Desert Doom While the ward affect is a bit conditional here, we'll still be able to use it more than we think, particularly if we haven't attacked or have something that gave us vigilance. Its far better than Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner, which showed promise but was very unlikely to help us out. The amazing thing here though is simply that it can draw cards, and helps us especially when we're down and can reload to three. This is the entire reason we run Dragon Mage, and it will be a super nice addition.

3) Lathliss, Dragon Queen I've thought about adding this for years, and maybe now will be the time. While it's not quite Utvara Hellkite and is less good as a Scion activation, it can still be pretty problematic for our opponents when we recur or mass recur, and could feasbily win a lot of games. I'll probably run it.

4) Old Gnawbone This is the best card printed for the deck in years. Its floor is high and it's ceiling is the sky. It's also very on theme for Dragons to hoard treasure! The only problem is its price tag in real world $, so it probably won't go in for now. Nonetheless, I'll be watching for when it either drops at rotation or enjoys a reprint.

Y'know... I think so too. 1x Captured by the Consulate out, 1x Quicksilver Dragon in :) Thanks a billion!!

Actually enchantments fall off if they lose their requirement, so if you took it back itd lose the Captured by the Consulate, so the deck wouldn't actually ever work before, also why dont you run Quicksilver Dragon?

And I think your deck only works with Coalition Flag.

Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker

Dragonmaster Outcast

Dragon Whisperer

Dragon Roost

Awaken the Sky Tyrant

Dragon Egg

Draconic Disciple

Dragonsoul Knight

So here's an idea. What about morph? Morph creatures are no creature type when they are in the morph state. Then turn it up any time for its morph cost and boom it's a dragon. Theres 7 cards that do this.

Imperial Hellkite

Quicksilver Dragon

Acid-Spewer Dragon

Herdchaser Dragon

Stormwing Dragon

Belltoll Dragon

Shieldhide Dragon

Vash13: tutoring for a tutor is not a waste of a turn when you then end up with 2 on the field. sorry buddy but scion is the superior commander of the 2. 4 additional colors and sets up the grave for a Patriarch's Bidding. as for ramp, access to green is better than mono red. your toolbox of dragons isn't "ready for anything" when you only have access to 1/5 the colors. with scion, you can transform into things like Belltoll Dragon or Quicksilver Dragon to dodge removal. your decks "head games" would only work once at best. they'll still target the zirilan with removal on sight.

Cards I would change for others that just seems better IMO.

Hypersonic Dragon (You should replace it by Vedalken Orrery or Leyline of Anticipation ... or even both)

Act of Treason (Put Insurrection instead, cost a lot, but can win you a game)

By Force ( Vandalblast is way better imo)

Reckless Air Strike (again, put something like Shattering Spree )

Courier's Capsule ( Witching Well )

Turn Aside (I understand it only cost one.. but something like Arcane Denial can counter anything and make you draw, which is excellent with any Niv)

Oppressive Will (Again, Mystic Confluence or Dream Fracture is insane)

Cards you can just cut out for others I have proposed

Adaptive Automaton

Loch Dragon

Quicksilver Dragon

Tandem Lookout

Engulfing Eruption

Reminisce (you already have Elixir of Immortality , and with Laboratory Maniac , I don't think you really need a second one)

Trepanation Blade

Pyromancer's Goggles but it's up to you honestly.. just have no good experience with this card personally

Panharmonicon (not sure why you play it tho..)

Izzet Keyrune

If you want to, you can drop the "dragon" part of the deck.. it's original, funny, but I think you don't need that to win.. So cards like Crucible of Fire , Dragon Tempest , Dragon's Hoard , can be replace.

I am a fan of the mechanic focused theme this year. I think all of the chosen mechanics were great/interesting choices as well.

Who else is super excited for Morph? My Quicksilver Dragon , Chromeshell Crab , and Ixidron will finally have a home! I have toyed around with decks using that mechanic for years, but they always lacked enough support to prevent the deck from being clunky.

Hopefully it will be Temur, but I'd settle for Simic. I think a cool ability for the new morph lord would be a reverse Ixidor, Reality Sculptor where you can activate him/her to turn a morph creature face down again.

Also, I wouldn't worry about mechanic specific cards like Dream Chisel or Catalyst Stone . Those cards are so unique/niche. WotC would be crazy not to reprint them in decks dedicated to their respective mechanics...though I have been wrong before.
