Predatory Focus Discussion

Siege Behemoth and Predatory Focus are nice to ensure that Grun hits people, instead of their puny creatures. Hopefully Grun can find space for another creature in his kingdom

Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

Predatory Focus and Outmaneuver were exactly what I was looking for, Master Warcraft as well.

I hadn't considered Lure-like effects but looking at them now I will definitely try to fit a few in.

I'm not sure yet what the top end of my curve will be, but it is probably going to be something big like a Lord of Extinction or an eldrazi, so Mage Slayer may have a spot.

I hadn't thought of Varchild, Betrayer of Kjeldor but it could be a nice way to build up an army in case of a 1 sided wipe.

In terms of which direction the build is going overall, I'm not entirely sure yet. I'm thinking just a general toolbox with a whole range of answers for everything. At the moment, my saskia deck is human tribal but I just don't have fun playing it, hence the rebuild.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, f you have any others feel free to pass them on

I originally ran Bellowing Tanglewurm when I made the deck, I took it out a couple years ago as the power level grew. I currently have no problem trampling over the other decks in my meta, but I'm actually working towards putting Bow of Nylea to help in any tight situations. Predatory Focus us a very interesting card and I may have to playtest it as a finisher. Flying is only occasionally a problem, I'll try to take out those types of decks first, but with the addition of Vivien Reid I think I'll be ok. Thanks for the suggestions!!

if you're still looking for some more win cons, depending ho many people in your play group play Green Bellowing Tanglewurm might be a good add. Also Predatory Focus to break through defenses. If you find yourself having flying troubles Sandwurm Convergence and Silklash Spider.

I was thinking of building a Ghalta deck, seems like a fun, simple, stompy deck!

i like your idea of crewing vehicles in order to get Ghalta out sooner. Very Clever!

Not sure about your play group, but I would imagine you wouldn't need any "fight" cards if you have lots of big creatures with trample? perhaps a card like Predatory Focus can get around it if is an issue?

If you have some $$ to spend I believe there are some cards that would really benefit your deck.

Managorger Hydra, Manaplasm, Omnath, Locus of Mana, Kalonian Twingrove, Regal Behemoth, Tangle Golem.

Emerald Medallion (must have in mono green) and/or Rhonas's Monument, Sylvan Library, Abundance, Beastmaster Ascension, Reliquary Tower

Hi Bantetsu,With the same multicolor flavour (which I really find nice, btw), why not try something like Might of the Nephilim as a finisher? Predatory Focus is good, but in Modern, you're unlikely to have so many creatures staying on board, it's a little expensive (in case you don't get this fifth land...), and instant speed is much better. In the same vein, Modern being about reactivity, maybe you should put low CCM control/defense spells mainboard, at least 4 Path to Exile for example. Brave the Elements could also be a must! But I don't know what could go out in replacement. Although it is a better creature overall, if you want to decrease the deck price and stick to the multicolor flavour, you could remove the Voice of Resurgence. Depending on the kind of control you're playing against, you could put either Kitchen Finks or Loxodon Smiter in the side. But I know the dilemma :-), I have to make the same choice in one of my decks (My Rhino is heavy but it adapts!. Anyway, good luck with the brew!
