Phantom Warrior Discussion

MY Sram list is not because I only keep lists I have in paper on here. Once I dismantle it I put the list in my brew folder and delete it. I can re-add it if you'd be interested. The game-plan was casting enchantments that stopped opponents' creatures from attacking and blocking (while drawing a card) to let Sram beat face. More effective than you'd think, especially 1v1 but did decently when played more politically in 3+ pods.

You want both and more for redundancy.

You also have to read the board on when to cast her. Running her out ASAP is your plan but if the black/blue player has 2+ untapped lands then maybe not. Bait out removal/counters with other threats. Be political in promising to not attack an opponent if they let you have your extra turn to deal with a bigger threat to you both.

While you do have big bombs like Stormtide Leviathan what if you added unblcokable creatures? Invisible Stalker and Phantom Warrior can be boosted easily, when it eats a removal/counter that is one less for Medomai, gives you another option before T6, and are viable options in case Medomai cannot stick.

Out of curiosity, what do you (generally) do with your second turn when Medomai connects?

Chronozoa is my personal fave! I understand if you think its not good enough though.

Have you tested Jace, Cunning Castaway at all? not saying itd be good but just wondering

EpicMaster99 Archive Trap feels like a must to me, especially in a format where people run fetch lands. More often than not you'll get to cast it for free turn 1 and even if you draw it late, 5 mana for 13 card mill isn't bad. Phantom Warrior seems out of place to me, in that he's just a 2/2 for 3 in this deck with no cipher cards or curiosity to make use of his unblockableness. Pearl Lake Ancient At least is a huge freakin body that can block anything in modern, but he's a super late play so he may not see play. As you are running no counters your board control is fully in the form of creatures and that may end up being a problem against some decks.

I'd say try it out as is, see how it goes against other modern decks in friendly games and make adjustments as you see fit. That being said, archive trap for sure =P

Arbosa Ive taken one Minister of Inquiries out. Do you think I should remove the other one, and the Pearl Lake Ancient and Phantom Warrior. Thanks for the help

It just occurred to me that Lord of the Unreal and unblockable illusions make this deck fairly similar to a bogles-style list with Invisible Stalker. If you focus on the unblockable illusions (Phantom Warrior, AEther Figment, Walking Dream, etc.), you can make use of anything that benefits from that unblockability. This includes equipment like Quietus Spike, Sword of Feast and Famine, and such. Or it could be auras like Curiosity, Auramancer's Guise, and so on. Finally, ciphered spells like Hands of Binding and Stolen Identity are fun with unblockables. Just an idea.

Not bad. My version is pure Blue and goes out like this:
Can't Touch This!

Of note, I went with Phantom Warrior instead of Latch Seeker, added Paragon of Gathering Mists in lieu of Green's pump spells, and added Curiosity to help draw faster.

I play a very similar deck in modern at fnm, really fun and competitive deck. I think that rather than use Unsummon, Vapor Snag could be used as it gives you a small ping of damage along with Unsummon's effect and I can't imagine you'd often use Unsummon on your own creatures as it would destroy most of them.

If you run a few more illusions that don't have the "if this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it" text, such as Phantom Warrior or AEther Figment, with your current one being Krovikan Mist you could run Call to the Kindred which would speed up the deck even more if you enchant one with it. It also Synergises with Krovikan Mist as you can get even more illusions out to pump it.

However, since Call to the Kindred is a spell that targets, you can't use it on any of the illusions with the "if this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it" text, so it wouldn't work and you'd lose the creature too.

Has anyone considered Sneaky Homunculus as a -mostly- unblockable? It might get chumped by pure weenies and be unavailable as a blocker against anything bigger, but otherwise it's getting through; it's also one less mana than a Phantom Warrior and is still getting pumped by the lords...
