Order of the Stars Discussion

Tbology on Gate Defender

Yes, I just put Axebane Guardian in last night and game testing it. It made a huge different in the deck! X any colors of mana is a super helpful on mana fixing! Totally agree with you.

Doorkeeper and Vent Sentinel can be a good one to add in for extra winning condition, I had try to put in different type of defender with color mana, but still colorless wall feels more consistent to me, if you have any idea to adjust to deck so that I can play different color defender would be great.

Currently I am thinking about going for life gain defender, which is focus on white. such as Fortified Rampart, Jeskai Barricade, Order of the Stars, Perimeter Captain, Pride Guardian, Stalwart Shield-Bearers, Wall of Essence, etc.

Ovlibion - Hello! Thanks for the suggestions. I really like the Fruit of the First Tree and Order of the Stars. I picked up some copies and will try them out soon!

You may be an aggro wall deck (That's a sentence I never thought I'd say) but sometimes you have to get rid of the Peacekeeper or Hushwing Gryff. Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares and Beast Within are all generic good cards.

You could also afford to draw more cards. Your commander does draw you some and you have some cards to assist that but you wanna play your two and three drop walls before that. Abzan Beastmaster is wonderfully in flavor and a personal howling mine. Sultai Flayer is an option but IDK if it's worth it. But also just generic good card draw like Soul of the Harvest, Mind's Eye, (If you have one), Shamanic Revelation, even stuff like Concentrate and Harmonize. Your deck may be running on a funky axis but that doesn't mean you should forget the essentials. In fact, they can help tie your gameplay together.

Angelic Chorus Lol. Don't know if it's good but come on. Verdant Sun's Avatar, Proper Burial too. They probably aren't worth it but it sounds funny. Dragon Throne of Tarkir is also pretty funny and works well with Arcades. Marble Titan is a meekstone with legs. Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive makes your team unblockable. And Heroic Intervention is pretty good.

You could probably cut some of the less impressive walls like Order of the Stars or Thraben Gargoyle  Flip.

TheVectornaut on First magic deck, Angel control, please help

Your practice hands showed the fundamental weakness of running a high concentration of high CMC bombs. Control generally offsets this by running many bounce spells, counterspells, and other tricks. Rather than fighting for board control, you simply deny the opponent of threats until the late game. I'd consider adding more cards in the vein of Mana Leak, Vapor Snag, and Remand. If you really want it to be more creature focused, GW midrange humans/angels is a possible archetype to look into. Otherwise, you'll have to rely on other means like the walls and taxes you already have. It might be helpful to find cheaper alternatives so that you can start controlling the game earlier than turn 3. For taxes, there's Mausoleum Wanderer, Judge's Familiar, and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. For defense, there's Fog Bank, Order of the Stars, and Wall of Omens. Some angels that fit a control angle are Archangel of Tithes, Chancellor of the Annex, and Angelic Arbiter. To close out the game, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Iona, Shield of Emeria, and the Bruna/Gisela meld are common picks. Finally, having some way to restock on life and cards can be very useful and Sphinx's Revelation fills this role nicely.

Hunted Lammasu would be a good way to give the opponent a creature.

What about Vent Sentinel, Rage Nimbus, Cinder Wall, Order of the Stars, and other walls that would be impossible to attack into?

Hold the Line might be useful here with 1 or 2 copies.
