Orcish Settlers Discussion

ComboCrazy on Horror, Carnage, and Annihilation. All are Rakdos.

Hmm, okay. I just thought it'd be a cool early option, if you can't get Rakdos out quickly. Also, why Thran dynamo instead of Hedron Archive? Archive seems like it'd be better here, since Rakdos only requires two colorless, and archive provides draw later. Also Heartless Summoning would help a lot here I think. It helps power out your commander, and only prevents you from playing one creature in your deck, Orcish Settlers, which can be removed for something like Fulminator Mage. Also, Lifeline may be worth looking into, in case you run into a lot of removal. Last off, are the artifact hate redundancies on purpose? I understand all the land hate but you've got a lot of artifact wipes in here. I'd replace one of them with another tutor, if you've got one in mind. I'd get rid of Shattering Spree, myself. It's a bit too color-intensive. Subterranean Tremors would be a great replacement either for Spree or Vandalblast, since it doesn't just kill artifacts, doesn't hurt Rakdos, and can be cast for more if you want the 8/8. Just a thought. Seven deadly sins would be cool for this, I think.

Being that you want to do land hate here are some cheaper nasty land destruction cards that might interest you I don't know many green land hate cards so:

Orcish Settlers <-- would be really nasty with some ramp

Dwarven Miner

Seismic Spike

Implode

Icefall

Feast of Worms

Price of Glory sadly this is a little pricey for a budget deck

Decree of Annihilation

Dwarven Blastminer

Keldon Firebombers

Stoneshaker Shaman

Pyromancer's Goggles <-- if you decide to throw some targeting land hate spells

Rzepkanut: I like Lifeline as a card, but I think it's better in a deck meant for a slower, grindier game, though, and that it helps my opponents too much.

Both Children of Korlis and Masterwork of Ingenuity have been in the deck before and eventually got cut for being too situational.

I love the art on Orcish Settlers (yay, American Gothic reference!) but I think it's too mana-hungry.

Thanks for the comment! :) If you like the deck, you're welcome to leave a +1 ;)

All those self sacrificing cards made me think of Lifeline... also Capashen Unicorn, Children of Korlis, and Orcish Settlers. Maybe Masterwork of Ingenuity. Nice deck looks harsh.

Thanks for the compliment Suaz14! Here are some more. Please excuse my need to recommend creature spells... It's my favorite card type. I'll be sure to include some non-creatures as well!

You'll probably want to be drawing cards while your opponents are forced to discard cards because they're missing land drops or just barely making the cut at 7 cards in hand. In any case Sandstone Oracle is a budget friendly draw spell. There are plenty of other better options too, but it was just a thought.

I'm not going to be cruel and "suggest" the cards above, that's a lot of clicking around for you to do. So I'll just leave the list here. Hopefully you see something that sparks some interest!

Thanks for the input. And you are correct. Wasteland and Sinkhole cost a bit much for me. Stone Rain Winter's Grasp Thermokarst Ice Storm Argothian Wurm Plow Under and Raze will be considered. I already have Orcish Settlers in my deck and I'm just trying to figure out what to swap to get Strip Mine a place. I'm not really big on Dwarven Miner as it is limited to nonbasic lands, although it could be sideboarded.
