Politics are very important for this strategy. I'd highly recommend Null Chamber , as I see it as the pinnacle of alliances, turning off two players' commanders whilst teaming up with another. Debt of Loyalty is also fun, as well as Tragic Arrogance . For what you're trying to do, Mystic Barrier seems to be the best of options. Solitary Confinement and Worship are good for staying around, too. Peacekeeper is also hated and helpful.

Null Chamber = Kill two opposing commanders. Team up with an opponent, name the rest of the commanders between both. Win!

Dimir Charm = Have you read this card? It messes over the guy Vampiric Tutor ing for an instant win combo. It counters the Expropriate , then kills the Hermit Druid .

Boil /Color hate in general = Wins games. At any cost.

NetholonTheArchmage, I agree on all of your points! I think I will work in Decree of Silence (as well as some fetch means). Regarding Null Chamber one other thought was that it could be used politically to provoke enemies into one another. Agree with an opponent to not choose anything of the other persons, and then you choose something rather neutral. Then if your opponent names someone elses commander, win con, whatever... They COULD be portrayed as the antagonist of the prohibited player rather than you. Obviously this would depend on how well you could predict your opponents spikeyness as well as the response of the "offended" player in where they place their blame.

@ MCJennings , I can see the problem you have with Venser here... I do have the same problem and usually use him as a wincon only --> blinking the Illusions of Grandeur to gift it multiple times. That is unless I can protect him with the Sphere of Safety I have in my list.

Decree of Silence really is an evil card when paired with Solemnity . If this is on the board you usually have won the game... I had it in my own deck for a long time.. until my opponents where so mad about this combo that I needed to switch it out for something else :D

Pendrell Mists also seems to be a rather valuable card if you don't play to many creatures and don't want to have your opponents to have them aswell... I'm fearing only that this card might be provoce a lot of hate on the side of your enemies, making you to a great target. If that is fine for you though... go for it! Let them suffer :D

Null Chamber is a card I thought to put into my own deck from time to time allready... It's just so plitical and you can arrange yourself with another player what cards to be called, denying your opponents multiple ressources. The chamber would be much better than Nevermore in that case >:)

Thanks for the comment and suggestions, NetholonTheArchmage! I do see the utility in Venser, but when testing him in the past I found that opponents in my playgroup would be irrationally aggressive towards any and all planeswalkers. If he had immediate value then it would work well, but I'd typically want to donate whatever nasty thing I took back asap- meaning I'd require at least 8 mana.

I think Remora would be a useful choice early game, and very effective with Solemnity. What are your thoughts on Decree of Silence , Pendrell Mists , and Null Chamber ?

Sorcerous Spyglass is another Pithing Needle type card.

The goal of these types of cards is that at least for effects like Nevermore, Null Chamber, Gideon's Intervention, Pithing Needle, Darksteel Mutation, Imprisoned in the Moon, Cursed Totem, Sorcerous Spyglass, Song of the Dryads, etc. is that they are 'commander removal', a way of getting around the command-zoning techniques that are abused by commanders that get removed often, yet can just be cast for more.

Mairsil can also use cards like Empress Galina or other steal effects as you can't command zone those either. Empress will also have an activated ability Mairsil can get, allowing you to make a sort of lock on all commanders.

Suppression Field, Prison Term, and other type effects, possible commander hate in the form of Nevermore, Darksteel Mutation, Gideon's Intervention, Null Chamber, etc could work in Marchesa. Even Cursed Totem, but for Mairsil, you will have to look elsewhere.

Mairsil is harder, I guess Imprisoned in the Moon?
