Okay, so I think the first thing you need to think about is trying to find a focus for your deck. Does playing a deck that is more aggressive appeal to you or would you rather sit back and control what your opponent does and play more slowly.

Personally, working with strictly with the cards on this list, I would be inclined to turn this deck into a more aggressive build that relies on lots of instant and sorcery spells, because you have some good cards in that realm (i.e. Cryptic Serpent, Enigma Drake, Nimble-Blade Khenra, Spellweaver Eternal, Burning-Fist Minotaur and Wildfire Eternal). Of course, if you go that route, your going to need some good instant and sorcery cards to back those creatures up. From what you have, I would suggest Magma Spray, Shock, Hieroglyphic Illumination, Kindled Fury, and Strategic Planning. I also really like Riddleform, because it will take advantage of all those instant and sorcery cards your running.

I think another big piece of advice that I wish someone had told me when I first started magic was to play 3-4 copies of every card I had in my deck and to keep the deck list as close to 60 cards as possible. Obviously there are exceptions to that rule, but that is generally something you want to abide by. If you want suggestions for other cards that are not on your list, tell me and I will help you out.

Lol! Quality.

I feel like champion of wits could work. Its just an all around great card.

Other more janky options are:

I wouldnt reccomend putting in many creatures if any with over two CMC though, because it mean you lose a lot when a creature with a cartouche on it gets removed.

Also, I'm concered about Soul-Scar Mage's performance if you only have 3 Trial of Zeal and no burn spells :O

RIP Alchemist :'(

The main issue here (one I am constantly dealing with, also) is your deck's inherent weakness to Abrade. I can see the synergy this deck might have had with Thermo-Alchemist, but it seems to be lacking the "oomph" it might have had with it in the mainboard; Maybe Nimble-Blade Khenra if you prefer the prowess side of your deck or Ahn-Crop Crasher and some Cartouche of Zeal for some ridiculous direct damage? I think the latter would work well considering you are running 4 copies of renegade tactics, which also removes blockers, although I feel the added zeal and the sheer force of Ahn-Crop Crasher can't be sneezed at. Other than that, the deck looks like a ton of fun!

The listed subtypes for almost the entire Jackal tribe seems to be incorrect. I tried to fix it but, unless I'm being an idiot and misunderstanding the interface, it isn't possible because the only Jackal related option in the drop-down menu is "Zombie Jackal".

Affected cards:
Battlefield Scavenger, Bitterblade Warrior, Bitterbow Sharpshooters, Champion of Rhonas, Dauthi Jackal, Defiant Khenra, Earthshaker Khenra, Flameblade Adept, Hurr Jackal, Jackal Familiar, Jackal Pup, Khenra Charioteer, Khenra Eternal, Khenra Scrapper, Nimble-Blade Khenra, Resilient Khenra, Trueheart Twins, Wildfire Eternal.

Will_Of_Ulamog I like the ideas but this deck generally wants to cycle more and stay low to the ground. I had Mercurial Geists and Nimble-Blade Khenra in this deck before, and both of them were underperforming. You wanna go all in on going off with a Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest combo as fast as possible, and both of those cards are mana sinks that could otherwise be spent buffing your commander or drawing cards. Pyre Hound is really interesting since it's a scaling threat, but it's very expensive so I'm reluctant to run it. And Pyromancer's Goggles looks really fun, but my issue with it is that it's SO much mana, and I rarely have a creature to slap it on since I'd rather just be buffing my commander's attack. Thanks though! :)

Hi! My two cents are that you should really play Soul-Scar Mage instead of Nimble-Blade Khenra and, if you just wanna get rid of an opponent creature, you should try Flame Slash over Fiery Impulse.Magma Jet is also a very good option in modern.

I recommend swapping Nimble-Blade Khenra for Soul-Scar Mage. Still has the prowess but is a bigger body, plus gives -1/-1 counters on creatures. So, you might not kill something with that Magma Spray, but the creature will be weaker unless the counters somehow get removed.
